In Oakland, price depends on breed, size, coat condition and temperament: small short-coated dogs cost least, while doodles, poodles and double-coated breeds take longer and cost more, and matting adds a dematting fee. Ask whether the groomer is certified, how dogs are dried (cage dryers versus hand drying), whether rabies vaccination proof is required in California, and how long your pet will stay. Most dogs need a groom every four to eight weeks. Saturdays and the weeks before holidays book up first, so schedule ahead and check the listing for hours, phone number and Google rating.

The business lists hours on 5 days of the week. Typical hours are 9 am–5 pm. Note that it does not open on Monday, Sunday. Oakland is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Oakland follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Alleged dog beating - owner has been seen hitting and swearing at dogs that don’t behave. Also refused to give our dog water for the whole duration of the appointment (5+ hours). Brought our dog here for years but will not anymore. Beware.

I had a really disappointing experience here. I was originally told I could bring my dog in at 10am to prioritize her due to separation anxiety. When I arrived at 10:07am, I was told it would now cost an extra $20 to prioritize her, and that I was “supposed” to come at 9am to avoid the fee. I didn’t argue since it seemed like a miscommunication, but it was frustrating. What’s much worse is the haircut itself. When I came back 1.5 hours later, my dog had been shaved nearly bald. I specifically provided a reference photo, which was clearly not followed at all. Pomeranians have double coats and should not be shaved this short, as it can cause long-term damage like alopecia or improper regrowth. This isn’t just a cosmetic issue… my dog is now physically uncomfortable. She has been shivering in the cold and she will need sunscreen to protect her bare skin from the sun. I paid $130 for a result that completely disregarded my request and could potentially ruin my dog’s coat long term. I’m extremely upset and would not recommend this groomer, especially for double coated breeds.

Superior groomers! I have a Bearded Collie, a notoriously difficult breed to groom. Froy and Noemy did a masterful job with our pup. These are very experience highly skilled groomers who are pleasant to deal with. I have tried lots of groomers in the Bay Area and won’t go anywhere else. BTW the name Mr. John has been changed to Bubbles Dog Grooming

A bit on the pricier side for me, but they do a fantastic job. My now 4 year old Shiba Inu's coat feels as soft as when he was a little puppy. This is now my regular place!
