About Uncle Bill's Pet Centers North
Back in 1985, Robert Wilson opened a pet store and named it after his beloved uncle, offering puppies and kittens for sale to local customers. Decades later, we are still family owned and deeply rooted in the central Indiana community. When most local residents think of where to find a new pet, Uncle Bill's Pet Center comes to mind. Lots of our customers grew up enjoying visits to our pet store, looking for puppies or kittens or a new fish for the aquarium, or just to enjoy the relaxed family atmosphere of the Indianapolis area's favorite pet store.Today, we still foster that family feeling in each of our six central Indiana locations. Even though some of our customers come from as far away as Chicago and Cincinnati to take advantage of ...

The enclosures are horrible and absolutely disgusting and the store reeks. One of the crested gecko enclosures quite literally had jelly cups that were meant for BUGS to eat as a food dish. The staff are rude and unhelpful. A staff member named Terry made multiple excuses to not let me see one of the reptiles I was planning to purchase just because he didn’t want to get it out.

We went in to get some fish for our tank. The tanks were all dirty. Several even had dead fish. We decided to buy four oranda goldfish, the tank was dirty but the fish themselves looked relatively healthy. Within 24 hours the fish rapidly declined. Their fins have begun to shed damaged tissue. It is fairly clear the they have ammonia poisoning. We have been nursing them back to health, but I am still not sure they will all survive. After four days only one of the four has started to swim around the tank and not laying on the bottom. For reference, we have kept fish for years, we have a 65 gallon tank that has been established and stable for nearly six months with four small feeder goldfish. Our filtration system is rated for a much larger tank and we checked the pH of the tank when adding the fish and it was within a safe range for the fish. We acclimated the fish before transfer as well. The fish are poorly cared for and many look sick and even those that don’t look sick likely are. I would absolutely not recommend purchasing from this store.

I realize that an establishment that sells pets will have a certain odor. But, before we even fully entered the store, the stench was just awful. My wife and I have visited numerous pet stores in the past and have never experienced this. Please do something about this. It's disgusting.

I went in to grab some pond/tank plants. The store is super disorganized in my opinion and it stunk really bad. The fish tanks were dirty, some so bad you couldn't see into them. I wouldn't buy a pet from them based on what I saw. I don't know if the dogs and cats are rescues, but the birds (parakeets) were crammed in a little cage. Looked to be over a hundred in a 4x2x2 foot cage. Staff was really not engaging, and had to ask for help. This was my first trip to them, as Ive always driven by but I won't be going again. The cashier gave me my change back with the bills folded up tight and the change inside of that. It was awkward

I would personally give this particular uncle bills zero stars. Not saying the other locations are much better, but, I was in the fishers location today while the store owner was present.. And this is what the reptiles looked like. I have never been so appalled in my life. The majority of them don’t even have heat fixtures. If they do they are not correct, they have barely any substrate or humidity. Even water for that matter…
