In Austin, price depends on breed, size, coat condition and temperament: small short-coated dogs cost least, while doodles, poodles and double-coated breeds take longer and cost more, and matting adds a dematting fee. Ask whether the groomer is certified, how dogs are dried (cage dryers versus hand drying), whether rabies vaccination proof is required in Texas, and how long your pet will stay. Most dogs need a groom every four to eight weeks. Saturdays and the weeks before holidays book up first, so schedule ahead and check the listing for hours, phone number and Google rating.

Austin is in Texas, in the South, where summers are hot and humid, winters are short, and severe storms in spring are a fact of life; businesses run air conditioning most of the year and many open early to beat the heat. Getting around Austin is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Texas's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

I want to start by saying the front desk staff was friendly, but overall this was a very disappointing and concerning experience. I understand my dog had some matting and may have needed to be shaved shorter than usual. However, he was taken down extremely short—far beyond what I expected—and now looks like a completely different dog. There was no clear communication beforehand about how short they planned to go. What concerns me most is that I found multiple small bloody scabs on his skin after the appointment. That should not be happening, regardless of matting. I was told he was “very anxious,” but that makes me question whether he was handled appropriately or if the grooming process caused him discomfort or injury. On top of that, I was originally expecting around $119, and the total came out to $260. That’s a significant increase with no proper explanation or approval ahead of time. Between the lack of communication, the condition my dog was returned in, and the unexpected pricing, I cannot say this was an acceptable experience. I would strongly recommend better transparency, clearer consent before major changes, and more care taken during grooming—especially when it comes

Picked up my pup from the groomer only to realize she was holding up her back leg. I noticed that on the delicate skin on her inner groin (the fold where her leg connects to her body) was cut. The cut was crusted over black and had yellow edges. It is one thing to accidentally nick and another to allow the pet and customer leave with no notice of the cut. There was no heads up, no explanation of the crusting and if any product was used to treat the cut. I called immediately once I noticed. I never got an answer or a call back. This is inappropriate and unprofessional to not communicate to the client of an injury. We will not be going back. You will pay 100s of dollars only to not receive basic customer service and care for your loved one.

Hi. I’ve been a member to Scenthound since they opened. I have been very pleased throughout my membership of my two chihuahuas. They always came out smelling beautiful and looking fresh. Unfortunately, I’m having to cancel my membership due to my move. I am totally pleased with their service and definitely encourage you to give them a try. God bless! Lexie and Lana’s mom

I’m not one for month-to-month commitments, but the basic service has turned out to be a good value for me and my pup. I’m glad there’s no long-term commitment and I can cancel any time. It’s nice to have a quick turnaround where I can go next-door and get a cup of coffee and then come back and get him about 25 minutes later. They are friendly and do a good job - his coat Is so shiny!
