Petsmart at North Pointe is a solid backup (and not a huge fan of chain box stores) for last minute pet needs if I can't tap Chewy. The staff at this particular are super-dedicated and they are authentic. There is one Petco in southern Durham and I find it really good. And Barnes Supply on Ninth St and they have specific products, but I don't always remember to stop by when nearby.

I’ve read that other people have had bad experiences here and maybe I just got lucky but I had a great experience with the grooming. I had Andrew specifically and both the person at the front desk and him were incredibly kind. He was especially understanding when I voiced my dog’s specific needs/triggers and worked with me to figure out what cut I wanted for her since I wasn’t sure. He even explained afterwards what she tolerated and what she didn’t and how I could train her to be more tolerant with working on her face/paws and how often I should bring her to get groomed so she becomes more accustomed to it. He was still able to get it done though despite her slight skittishness (she’s a shelter dog and we don’t know her history before 6 months) and she’s likely not used to grooming. She looks amazing and I think he did a wonderful job! I’ve attached before and after pics and he was working with a lot of dense hair (she mats easily too) but I think she got such a cute summer cut! Her paws, sanitary area, and nails were done well too! She also was super happy and excited once I got her back and they gave me a call as soon as she was done! It seemed like he genuinely cared about her

I can always find what I'm looking for and things I need. I bought a pet heating pad that is AWESOME. It's for my feral cat that live on my deck in a kitty condo I made from storage containers. It has been a godsend for the last four years. She loves it. It makes me happy knowing she is warm in the winter. I can't wait until PetSmart start selling the cat houses and the cooling pads that plug in...They would sell out in a couple of hours.

This place has REALLY gone down hill. I rode with a friend last week so that she could grab a few things and while I was there, decided to look at their fish. I inquired about fish that could be put in an aquarium with a male betta. The lady working informs me that I shouldn't get one from them now because all of their fish were suffering from Ich and/or fin rot. Thank goodness for her honesty, because after hearing that, I went over to the betta fish section and I almost cried. Their live bettas were all so tiny and sickly looking... but half of them were dead. But the more I think about it the madder I get, because someone could've taken 2 seconds to check and remove the floaters from the floor. Laziness is all that is. But they really need to find out what is in their water. It's understandable for entire tanks of fish to become ill or die of ich or find rot, but for every single individually separated betta bowl to be infected makes NO sense. And the lady working the register must've been hard of hearing because I has to ask her 3 times for a price check and then she completely rang me up, expecting me to pay once I handed it to her.

Customer service is poor. Waited forever to be waited on to purchase tropical fish. Gave up on getting help. Not to mention there was many dead fish that had not been removed.
