About Pawsitive Impact Pet Rescue

Our mission is to help the abandoned, stray and discarded pets of our community, with the goal of reducing the animal population and clearing the shelters. We provide medical care and vetting to pets in need as well as spay/neutering before a forever home is found. While finding them homes we provide a loving and safe environment in one of our local foster homes or at our Adoption Center. At our Adoption Center each pet has individual time outside and once tested they can interact with other dogs in a daycare like setting. The pets receive basic training, socialization and grooming until their perfect family is found. Each adopter will be screened before they can adopt from us as well as we like to find our animals the perfect fit!

I didn't know we had a pet rescue stationed out in Joliet. I always wondered what happened to some of the dogs via past Covid. Some say (on the news) were thrown away (heard from PetSmart), or some put down due to others had to come in. I would love to take my daughter to see some dogs again, it's been a while since our dog passed giving us 10 years. Unfortunately, my allergies came back but, I don't mind seeing dogs again to sacrifice my nose for a pet or too. No, I'm not looking to adopt just yet, it's still hard process with losing our dog. I'll be sure to come by before September is out.

I am concerned about the dogs since this place is super sketchy. I agree wjth other reviews thatt the place reaked of animal urine and had supplies cluttered everywhere. I was interested in adopting a very calm, docile dog named Steven. However, communicating with Pawsitive felt greedy, cold and disconnected. In other rescues, people would be prioritizing the dog's wellbeing and future. The owner seemed more concerned that I put a deposit down as soon as possible. Wasn't even excited for the dog I was interested in. She didn't even know his age. I was under the impression that I had met a 2-3 year old when I first meet him with a young employee, but the owner told me that he is actually 11 months old when I call afterwards . She's super rude on the phone asking "Have you ever even owned a dog before?"when I am asking about his history and temperament -- which btw I had to ask for this info AFTER she was being pushy for me to just pay the deposit. We say no since we are not ready for a puppy. Next day, she texts me that the vet said he is actually 2-3 years old. Super sus. I ask her for a copy of his vet records and health history, and she says I can have it AFTER I official

This shelter needs a complete over haul and I pray tht they get what they need. Zero stars!!!! It's pretty run down to say the least. You could smell very strong urine in the parking lot and walking in they have drop ceilings and the smell really hits you. WORST than BAD!!! I have been to shelters no way!! ***Buyer --ADOPTER BEWARE!!** Stupid ol me...I adopted a dog advertised as a 2 yr old Pomeranian. I Google Lensed my dog's pic and she's not even a Pomeranian....she is a German Spitz!! People were telling me "She looks like a baby fox!" Not even close Pomeranians are toy breeds. Get it together Pawsitive..and get your breeds right! Use Google Lens. The worst part of the adoption is they adopted her out to me SICK and YOU SIGN THE PAPERWORK and are FULLY responsible for anything and everything including illness once you walk out that door w.a dog. So I paid $475 for adoption plus her additional medical bills. We are NOT RICH and that was uncalled for! I noticed her eyes were very teary in lobby and I thought maybe it was due to the smell...she was matted up and unkempt and there for over a month. I brought my current dog in car to double check compatibility and the girl

Amazing people! Volunteers who show up every Tuesday to help dogs get the proper vaccines and shots they need for a very discounted price. They even chip your PO ets as well as give all the necessary shots for under $50. Plus they have a food drive for animals as well.
