So, I’m not an expert, but I do have vet friends, and it doesn’t take much of your own personal research on Google to understand what abnormal behavior from skunks are. This skunk has been walking in CIRCLES for 15 minutes now in front of my house on the street. That is ABNORMAL it also sometimes falls over—ABNORMAL it also let me APPROACH IT!!! I was LESS THAN 5 feet away! That is ABNORMAL! Skunks ALMOST ALWAYS FLEE AS FAR AWAY FROM YOU AS POSSIBLE Well, the lady I spoke with at animal control said it’s totally normal for skunks to let you walk right up to them…she also told me his behavior listed above is totally normal… Except it’s not…it’s a strong indicator of a neurological issue or rabies—which is a threat to everyone in the neighborhood and pets. The lady kept cutting me off and wouldn’t let me explain to her BASIC FACTS…so disappointed in Joliet animal control. Stop hiring people that don’t know anything!!!! I’m so disappointed in this phone call. This skunk is still just WALKING IN CIRCLES!!! Called back to explain to her she was spreading serious misinformation and she said “alright! See ya!” I wish I got her name.

I adopted my first cat from JTAC/Forepaws a year ago, and I loved every step of the way with them at the time. They were helpful, they gave great service and I felt comfortable looking for a friend for my boy a year later. I went to Forepaws a little over a week ago to meet the cats JTAC had available over there, and upon entering the cats were all sick, hiding or laying down lethargic. I understand its the season for allergies and cats to develop URIs but these cats did not look taken care of at all. My girlfriend and I brought it up to the person up front who was not nice about us saying anything at all. She shut down everything we said with excuses about why they were behaving sick...but I still filled an application out for one of them. The next day I get a phone call saying that I was approved for the cat I wanted to adopt but that she was being brought back to intake to be isolated because of "kitty cough" , and that I would get a call from them when she was better. I called JTAC today, over a week later, to ask for an update about the cat I was approved for, and they told me that she was transferred to an entirely different rescue, and that the new rescue should have call

This was our families first time adopting a dog at Joliet Animal Control and our experience there dealing with Paula couldn’t have been better! Paula was very kind and concerned making sure we were to see the dogs we wanted to visit with there. She abided by my request to only see the dogs I was interested in as I am an animal lover and would want to adopt them all. The day we adopted our rescue dog, Paula was not available but was very accommodating when I wanted my husband to visit with our newly adopted dog the following day. She made it her point to meet with us that day. She couldn’t have been nicer and made the whole process easy. Her counter part Renee who brought the dogs into the room to visit with us was wonderful with the dogs and you can tell she was very good with them and they loved her as well. Paula answered all our questions and followed up with important information like the treats our fur baby liked there and the crate size we would need. Paula couldn’t have been kinder and did a great job following up to see how our new family member was doing. Thank you Paula and all the staff there for helping adopt our dog as she is now at her forever home. 💕

They were very helpful when my dog got lost. Someone dropped her off and they went as far as calling the chip company because the dogs chip wasn't working. My dog was safe and happy, albeit a little scared. They took great care of her. Thank you!!
