Juneau is in Alaska, where long summer days and dark cold winters set the rhythm of business; many seasonal operations run only from May to September, so call ahead outside the summer. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Juneau follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. I am sitting in Ketchikan, Alaska, helplessly listening to my mother cry over the phone because her service dog, Odie, is struggling to breathe and is barely moving. My mother is disabled, and Odie is not simply a pet—he is her companion, her support, and a vital part of her life. These are life-threatening symptoms. Odie is uncomfortable, suffering, and may not survive the night without veterinary care. We contacted this clinic and pleaded for help, but they refused to provide emergency care or even attempt to make room for him. There was no offer to evaluate his condition, no attempt to reschedule a routine appointment for a healthy animal, and no apparent sense of urgency. We were simply told, “We can’t do anything for you. Call someone else.” What made this even more painful was the complete lack of compassion in the response. There was no concern in their voice and no indication that they cared whether this animal lived or died. My mother was crying and desperately asking for help for her service dog, yet the response was cold and dismissive. I understand that veterinary clinics have schedules and limitations, but emergencies should mean something. When an animal is struggl

When I dropped off my puppy for her surgery in the morning she was trembling but when I picked her up in the afternoon she loved the girls so much I almost didn’t think she wanted to come. Very impressed, thank you so much!

I’ve had only good experiences here. Pturtle (Frenchie) loves his visits here, he also had an awful ear infection that they helped clear up quickly and Cermet (Aussie) has been an anxious menace since he was a puppy - scared of everything - finally at age 10 this new (to us) vet prescribed an anxiety med that seems to be working! While still our anxious boi, he is so far much better/significantly less destructive/not hurting himself when we leave the house. Fingers crossed this new anxiety med keeps working! Thank you, JVH!

My dog passed away while in the care of Juneau vet Hospital. Taking Dax here will forever be the greatest regret of my life. I feel that they didn’t even take the time to get to know my dog. I was never asked questions about what medication he was on. I was never asked if he had eaten before his visit. When I went in to drop him off, they weren’t even sure which leg it was- they had asked me just an hour before his surgery which leg needed an operation. They did not want to see/talk to me before his surgery. It was all so rushed. Could it have made a difference in the outcome of this “routine” surgery? Maybe not, but I’d like to think it could have. Even after Dax passed, the report that was sent to the cremation service was incorrect. He was written down as being “grey”. Dax does not have a single spot of grey on him. It caused even more confusion and distress after his passing. He was treated like a number. So, because you all did not take the time to get to know Dax- please allow me to tell you more about him. Dax was known as the sweetest gentle giant. He would stick his lips out to accept a treat because he wouldn’t want to touch you with his teeth. He would howl when he was

Doctor New and his crew have looked after our cats and dogs for 30 years or more. We appreciate that they always try to do their best for a sick animal, even when the appointment calendar is booked. Doctor New is a good surgeon who researches and consults with colleagues around the country when a tricky problem presents. Very simply, when it comes to what is best for our pet we confidently put our trust in this man.
