The Animal Hospital of Hoboken was incredible. They saw our cat immediately and when we later needed medical boarding for a couple of days, they didn’t hesitate for a moment. They reassured us that our cat would be in good hands and they truly meant it. The staff was kind, jovial, and so nurturing toward our cat. Dr. Sprague and fellow doctors were attentive and explained everything in detail. It was the best experience we’ve ever had at a veterinary practice. Highly recommend.

I can’t recommend Hoboken Animal Hospital enough. They have taken care of my cat for the last 7 years, and I wouldn’t trust anyone else with their care. From the moment you walk in, the front desk staff is incredibly kind and attentive, setting such a welcoming tone. The vets are equally wonderful—they are so thorough in their explanations and always take the time to ease my worries, no matter how big or small. It’s a relief to have a team that is not only skilled but genuinely compassionate.

I’ve been a client of Hoboken Animal Hospital for 20+ years. Dr. Sprague is an amazing, empathetic doctor and the front desk is absolutely lovely and kind. This review is not about them. It is about what happened with another doctor (Dr. Ramón Méndez-Morales) during an emergency and why I would not recommend seeing him. On 10/27/2025 I brought in a very ill cat on a literal ticking timer. I needed triage and focus on an obstruction. Instead I got vaccine pressure, wasted minutes, a retaliatory chart note, and a breakdown in communication while my cat was actively declining. Intake immediately pushed an overdue rabies vaccine instead of symptoms. I explained I don’t consent because two of my previous cats developed cancers at vaccine sites (documented by Cornell’s Feline Health Center as feline injection-site sarcoma). The nurse kept pushing and then handed me off to the doctor. Dr. Méndez took vitals and ordered radiographs, then told me "he saw nothing". A few hours later, the outside radiology consult clearly read mechanical obstruction and recommended surgery; the ER (VEG) confirmed a lower-intestinal blockage and operated the same day, removing about a foot of fabric. I have always had positive experiences with everyone here, from the front desk staff to the techs to the veterinarians I have seen (Dr. Sprague and Dr. Martinez). My partner and I recently lost our cat to a nasal tumor, and the staff was so attentive and supportive through this process - which made the experience a bit less daunting. Thank you so much Hoboken Animal Hospital for caring about our Boozie!
