Evansville Animal Care And Control.

do not feel Evansville/Vanderburgh Animal Care & Control handled my dog’s situation appropriately. I tried to report serious concerns involving my dog and requested information about what was documented, but the communication and follow-up have been extremely poor. As the dog’s owner, I should not have to fight this hard to find out what was reported, what records exist, or how the situation was handled. I am posting this because I believe animal related reports should be handled with transparency, urgency, and accountability , not brushed off or made harder for the owner to understand in this traumatic event.

I've taken two cats to Animal Care and Control over the past year due to advanced age and failing health. The employees are always kinds and courteous. They definitely seem like they have a thankless job, unfortunately. I'm sure its also disheartening to see how animals are mistreated, neglected, abandoned on a regular basis. So a huge thanks to those employees for being there when my family needed them the most and for doing a job that helps those in our world that can't fight for themselves.

I called on a Saturday morning about a dead deer in the front yard. I left a message, my mother called and left a message as well as sending an email. I called again on Monday after hearing nothing all weekend and having nothing done. I had to leave another message and still have yet to hear anything. The carrion birds have already started to pick apart the body and it's impossible to get in touch with anyone at the ACC offices. Update: a very kind ACO answered the phone, even though its not her job, and informed me their truck has been out of service for days. Our address was in the system for pickup but she couldn't tell me when the truck would be working again. We had no call to alert us of this. Luckily we have the ability to move the animal ourselves, however if we had gotten a call back we would have moved it on Saturday instead of waiting until Monday and after leaving repeated messages. Thankfully this happened in the winter and not when the threat of communicable diseases is high. It also makes me less likely to reach out to them when I do see an animal truly in danger if this is their response to something as easy as a carcass pick up.

The staff are so animal first and very easy to work with. I adopted a dog I didn’t need and wasn’t looking for, but I was going to adopt no matter what. They could tell and definitely bent over backwards to help and speed it up. Please adopt.

Staff was super helpful, courteous and professional! Also, the way the dogs responded to staff, you could tell they treat them like their own! Thank you Evansville Animal control employees for all you do!
