About Barb's House of Grooming

Located at 2401 E 70th St, Shreveport, LA 71105, Barb's House of Grooming operates as a pet groomer serving Shreveport in Louisiana. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.

In Shreveport, price depends on breed, size, coat condition and temperament: small short-coated dogs cost least, while doodles, poodles and double-coated breeds take longer and cost more, and matting adds a dematting fee. Ask whether the groomer is certified, how dogs are dried (cage dryers versus hand drying), whether rabies vaccination proof is required in Louisiana, and how long your pet will stay. Most dogs need a groom every four to eight weeks. Saturdays and the weeks before holidays book up first, so schedule ahead and check the listing for hours, phone number and Google rating.

Shreveport is in Louisiana, in the South, where summers are hot and humid, winters are short, and severe storms in spring are a fact of life; businesses run air conditioning most of the year and many open early to beat the heat. Traffic in Shreveport peaks on weekday mornings and afternoons, so allow extra time then. Barbs did such a good job on my Chihuahua! He is a busy guy and they got him done beautifully! Would use Barbs again.

I took my baby to be groomed and they really did a number on her! When I returned to show all the cuts around her eye and nose I was told it was from the brush they use to clean up around the eyes. Mind you this was not her first visit BUT IT WILL BE THE LAST! There was a lot of explaining from the groomer of how long she has been doing this and that she didn’t notice it, but it was not cuts but from a brush.

Took my dog once before and hated it so bad. Only good part is the stuff they use to bathe them smell really good. I booked a groom and cut and he came back with a full on blow out lol not even a trim or nothing. Tried to book again today for an emergency bath since his regular groomer is closed and this place was the only place opened. I asked a simple question of “do you take walk in grooming” and the lady acted like I was talking another language. Then when she finally understood my very simple question she asked my dogs breed and weight. I told her a peekapoo and she kept going on and on about how they don’t do them cuz they are to big(mind you he is about 18 pounds) she kept talking like he was a standard poodle. And repeatedly kept saying it. So all I know is for now on if Angels lil puffs is closed my dog just won’t be getting groomed. Tried giving this place a second chance but never again.
