Vets and pet-health businesses handle what a groomer cannot. General veterinarians and animal hospitals do checkups, vaccinations, dental cleanings, spaying and neutering and sick visits; emergency and 24-hour vets treat injuries and sudden illness at night and on weekends; mobile vets come to the house; rehab centers offer physical therapy, hydrotherapy and acupuncture; and pet pharmacies fill prescriptions and sell prescription diets. Groomers often spot skin problems, ear infections, lumps or overgrown nails first and will suggest a vet visit.

Decatur is in Illinois, in the Midwest, where summers are warm, winters are cold and snowy, and most errands are done by car; businesses keep steady year-round hours with the usual holiday changes. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Decatur follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. I just went to get my dogs her yearly shots. The new office looks great and the vet tech and doctor was amazing. The male receptionist was not very friendly. I use care credit for my vet services and they didn't let me know until after I had services done they aren't accepting it right now. I even had it marked on my paper work that I was paying with care credit. He was very rude about it and dismissive. This is after I stood at the counter and watched him ignore and open up mail. I felt like I was a bother to him and he was annoyed to deal with me. I even told him he wasn't very kind and migjt be returning to beat friends. He basically said he did not care. Their prices have also increased this past year. I will no longer be getting a nail trim, $35 dollars is pretty steep for a nail trim. I may give them another try because the vet was good, but I hope they get someone else to work at the front desk.

The dr was very nice and good with my dog for her wellness exam. Gave her her shots without causing too much discomfort. Will keep them as her vet.

This is the only place in Decatur that will get my dogs in same day. Sure it’s a bit of a wait but that’s what happens when they’re able to squeeze people in for emergencies. I am very grateful to Dr Johnson and staff for not only getting my husband’s and my dogs in when we had an emergency, but also the patience they had shown me while I was worried. They’ve provided life saving measures on my husband’s dogs, they’ve built my dog’s confidence and he no longer growls at the vet.

Everybody was so kind and attentive. I felt like my concerns were heard. Everything was explained well to me. The text were awesome. And even the Front Desk receptionist was great. Dr Johnson was so awesome. And he explained everything to me and put my worries to eat.
