About Ability Dogs of Arizona
We're Arizona's only ADI-accredited owner-train service dog program and the nation's oldest service dog organization, founded in 1973. Based in Tucson with a second location in Tempe and public training in Las Vegas, we train people to partner with their own dogs under the guidance of certified instructors. We offer service dog training across variou disability disciplines, including support for veterans and kids, plus adult and puppy classes and facility dog placement in schools, healthcare settings, and courtrooms. Pay-what-you-can fees make our service dog program accessible to all.

Many groomers suggest getting puppies used to brushing, nail trims and having their paws handled early. Dog parks across Arizona usually require current vaccinations and a license tag, and some need a membership or key fob. Check the listing for hours, address and Google rating.

Tucson is in Arizona, in the Southwest, where the desert climate brings very hot summers, mild sunny winters and the summer monsoon; outdoor businesses shift their hours toward early mornings and evenings in the hottest months. Getting around Tucson is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Arizona's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Koda and I had a wonderful experience with Ability Dogs training. We had almost 2 years of experience with all the team at Ability Dogs. Julia was our one on one trainer and she was fabulous. I have highly recommended to several of my friends to use this organization.

Pam was instrumental in training/showing us how to train our golden doodle from 8 weeks to 2 years old. The pup is now a fully certified service dog who helps his (power wheelchair dependent) handler with everything from retrieval of dropped items to medical assistance. Thank you Ability Dogs for your ministry; helping the disabled obtain more dignity and independence!

I am so happy to get help by Ability Dog! We have started with Helga my almost 2 years 8 months dog. On November last year, Helga has improved a lot in her behavior, specially around other Dogs. Helga and I had learned so many tips in how to walk by my side. Helga will be my service dog to detect my diabetes glucose. Also I am half deaf and she will assist me with that. I am so pleased in how Ability Dogs has helped us, the staff is very friendly, very professional trainers, Pam and Julie are being helping us a lot! Thank you Ability Dogs to change our lives!!! I HIGHLY recommend Ability Dogs and their services.

I am so grateful for a place like Ability Dogs. The staff and trainers are amazing people who really work with you and your dog to achieve your goals and strengthen bonds. I have trained both my service dog and a pet dog here, and this is a place I always recommend to my friends looking for classes for their dogs.

This place has changed my life. Not only are the trainers incredible, knowledgeable, kind, patient, and so very understanding, they literally live to make others lives better. Before finding ability dogs my quality of life was a daily struggle, I didn't think I had any options to help me. Ability Dogs changed my thought process, my ability to go out on my own, and gave me so many tools for my dogs. My first dog made it almost fully through the program, but had to be retired due to medical reasons. This dog literally helped me get a college degree, helped me walk across the stage at graduation with confidence, and helped me through so many difficult times. Knowing her life was shortened by the same heart condition that I have destroyed me. By some gift from God I was allowed to foster a puppy to potentially match, and I wasn't sure I could do it. With Pam's help I connected with this new puppy in a different way, a beautiful way, and he has taken the empty spot that I didn't think any other dog could fill. They train with love, they teach with love, and they give hope to those who need it most. Whether it's training a dog to feel confident in our scary world, helping a dog overcome
