This is the worst shelter I have ever been to. There is no desire to actually adopt animals to good homes. Would never go through their over the top adoption process again. Skagit humane society is soooo much better!!

I felt they were not sympathetic toward you. They just wanted your money. I had to put my cat socks down due to the fact the vet said it would be in her best interest because she was just too dehydrated and was so sick she had lost a lot of weight at a rapid pace. It was the humane thing to do she was in so much pain. Any way I just felt like the lady at the front desk had no empathy toward the fact it was very difficult on me. Because it was an emergency euthanaisa couldn't go back with her. This hurts just writing this review. I understand that it costs money for the medication to put them to sleep. But for them to be a so called non profit organization they sure have done a lot of improvements to the front. Sorry maybe I don't understand that they need to upgrade as well as anyone else. A rehoming fee of 300.00 is ridiculous. Then you have to be approved first. I'm a cat lover always have been since I was a child. I take care of my animals the best I can. I'm not rich or well off by a long shot but I do have a huge heart full of love for my animals.

My family and I wanted to adopt a puppy from Whatcom Humane Society. My husband and oldest son went to play with the puppy last weekend. A couple hours after they got home, he received an e-mail stating that we were rejected because we own a dog house and mentioned we used a long-line lead on our previous dog. Our previous dog, Matilda, was with us for almost 12 years and we recently lost her due to health issues. We gave her a wonderful house and took the best care of her. She never slept in the dog house, and when we tried to put her on the lead as a puppy, she didn't like it, so we didn't use it. In fact, we threw it away. My husband sent an e-mail to Sawyer, who has yet to respond, and when my husband texted Sawyer, it's apparent that he has been blocked. We wanted a chance to tell them there's been a miscommunication. Any pet of ours would not live/sleep outside, and we would take puppy classes to be up on the best ways to raise a puppy. Whatcom Humane Society was very responsive when we first reached out, but now that we'd like a chance to talk, we have been blocked. We have provided a loving and safe home to three pets, and Whatcome Humane Society has made a decis

Whatcom Humane Society is by far the nicest most caring bunch of ladies I've ever met. I went in not having a single thing for my rescue pup. And the ladies their provided me with a nice almost new dog crate, a huge Kirkland dog bed, puppy food both wet and crunchy. A cover for his dog crate. I'm so grateful and blessed for this place. And lastly, before I left one of the ladies mentioned the Whatcom Humane Society S.N.A.P application. I filled it out and was immediately approved for neutering all of his vaccinations deworming, flea and tic, I'm so happy about this cause I want him fixed as soon as I can. My Brutas will not be raised to be aggressive. He's my lil lover not a fighter. Society has such a negative stigma against pits. Well I can tell you. It's not always the dog. It's 9 times out of 10 the way the owner raises their pit.

We had such a great experience adopting our two kitties from here. The volunteers are amazing and the staff is patient and well-informed. They clearly care a lot about making sure their animals go to a great home!
