Got my first kitten from here. West Side Cats was awesome. They really care about the cats and do their best to make sure they're being adopted to a loving home and not just sold to the first person who shows a mild interest. This would definitely be my first stop if I were interested in a second cat.

Guess I should have heeded the previous reviews on this place but lesson learned. The cats here are cute, personalities galore and from all walks of life. But thats about it. Im unsure what magical test you have to pass to be deemed worthy to be able to adopt from here, but I have never experienced such difficulty wanting to do a good thing for an animal in need of a proper home. While the process didnt take as long as some have said it has for them, I was still dismissed with basically the same energy. Came in today to visit the crew again and see who had been added and who was off to greener pastures. Walked into the office to politely ask if I could also apply for others I'd decided I needed to love and was promptly rudely interrupted mid sentence and told they werent going through with anything. No explanation, no "but you could always try these ones" nothing. So I excused myself and left. Its rescues like this that keep backyard breeders in business. Begging for donations, foster help, money, and then making adoption so tedious is an oxymoron. Its a shame because I loved coming here. For the cats that is. Don't even bother with this place. There's better rescues

I recently called them to rescue a beat up, abandoned cat I had rescued, but could not keep. They were more than welcoming on having me bring him in, so they could resume care and provide him with a better life. I was pleasantly surprised at how cat friendly and clean and comfortable feeling the building is inside. And also the staff were pleasant people to talk to.Im confident in knowing that I chose the right rescue for Rocky the cat with no tail.

This place absolutely sucks! They really seem to not care about adopting out their cats to people who care and would love that animal. They are rude and very unwelcoming. It’s almost like they have this god complex. When we went to visit the first time the volunteers even made comments that people were taking all the cats and they would have to get more!! To me isn’t that the point??? Like they should be thankful people want to adopt cats from a small shelter who clearly need the help as the cats that are there definitely could use some better care. Really hope this place gets some better volunteers and workers. I get it’s none profit but if you don’t have the skills and heart to adopt out cats to good homes maybe you shouldn’t be doing this kinda thing.

Me and my girlfriend got a lovely little kitty there, who we've had for about a month. They have quite a large facility with plenty of cats, and they keep the cats in multiple rooms seemingly to avoid the adult cats getting mixed up with the kittens. There's also cats who live in the office area, and all of them are adoptable, too. Each room has plenty of things to keep the cats interested, with plenty of toys and things to climb on, including a big wooden tree-like structure in one room. There's also plenty of beds and litter boxes, and the cats seem to be fed properly with all of the food that gets donated to them. Staff was friendly, and told us everything we'd need to know before adoption, including what food to start them on, which flea treatments to go with and which ones to avoid, and also just stuff about general care. They gave us a sheet with all of this information to take home as well. They don't offer same-day adoption, but the approval process was quick. For us it only took one week, and we were even able to change which cat we wanted last-minute. Adoption fees range between around $80 and $130 depending on the cat, but all of the cats are spayed, neutered, deworme
