In Melrose, price depends on breed, size, coat condition and temperament: small short-coated dogs cost least, while doodles, poodles and double-coated breeds take longer and cost more, and matting adds a dematting fee. Ask whether the groomer is certified, how dogs are dried (cage dryers versus hand drying), whether rabies vaccination proof is required in Massachusetts, and how long your pet will stay. Most dogs need a groom every four to eight weeks. Saturdays and the weeks before holidays book up first, so schedule ahead and check the listing for hours, phone number and Google rating.

Melrose is in Massachusetts, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Melrose is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Massachusetts's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

I don’t recommend for cat grooming. My cat is nervous, but has easily tolerated nail trims at four groomers, including this one. Today two of their employees were not able to get her nails trimmed without my help. I had to assist them twice, after which they told me that they weren’t able to get her nails as short as they needed to be. They also did not handle her correctly, using both hands around her neck. 😭😭To top it off, it smelled horrible in there today. They charged me full price and my cat had a really stressful experience. Never again. *Edited to respond: The groomer scruffed my cat with one hand and had her other hand on the front of her neck. Not appropriate. A burrito wrap, Elizabethan collar, or harness would have been more comfortable and would have increased safety. Hissing and growling in cats does not signal aggression, it signals fear. I did not see her try to bite. If she did, it was her way of communicating pain or fear. I have fostered cats for many years and have a lot of experience taking them to appointments. Nervous cats are not behavior problems - they need expert care and understanding. I won’t go back.

I’ve been taking my dog to Waggery on main for over a year. I started to notice my dogs hesitance whenever I would bring him into the salon. He would sit right by the door and seem very sad about me leaving him for his groom. His last visit I had a bad feeling after dropping him off and witnessing his same hesitance and sadness. After picking him up and taking him home he began having some bad bouts of diarrhea for the rest of the day and night. When laying in bed with him that night I could see his fur on his tummy and it looked all hacked up. It just didn’t look like a 100.00 groom at all. I even noticed his collar was put back on him upside down. That did it for me. Something had gone wrong during that grooming session. I don’t know what but I’m not returning there ever again. My dog is my baby and I will not take him to a place that puts fear into him so much that it causes bouts of diarrhea due to nerves. He was 100% fine before his groom. I have already found a new groomer that will see him for his next groom.

We have been coming to Waggery for about a year now and Tracie has been so amazing every time! She gives our Golden the best haircut and bath. He is a little bit nervous about a lot of things, but she always makes sure he is comfortable and he always leaves with his tail wagging! We can’t say enough good things about Waggery! Thank you Tracie for taking care of our boy!

Waggery did wonders for my dog Sadie! She was getting quite stinky so I had her go in for a bath and nail trim! She is a super hyper dog but I was told she did really well during the bath (probably the treats they gave her to make her happy.) She smells amazing, is super happy, and we went home with a watermelon bandana and pink nails to match! Definitely recommend if you want a quick pup-makeover :D The staff must be magicians because I have no idea how they got her to sit still to get her nails painted! 10/10
