In Richmond, price depends on breed, size, coat condition and temperament: small short-coated dogs cost least, while doodles, poodles and double-coated breeds take longer and cost more, and matting adds a dematting fee. Ask whether the groomer is certified, how dogs are dried (cage dryers versus hand drying), whether rabies vaccination proof is required in Kentucky, and how long your pet will stay. Most dogs need a groom every four to eight weeks. Saturdays and the weeks before holidays book up first, so schedule ahead and check the listing for hours, phone number and Google rating.

Highly recommend the Shih Shed. I’ve been bringing my dogs to The Shih Shed for about 3 years now. I absolutely love them. My dogs go to Stephen, and he is so kind, patient, & truly an animal-lover. He does an amazing job with grooming, he truly has a passion for it. Take your fur babies to The Shih Shed! They are great!

The shih shed does such an amazing job! Our dog never hates going here and they do such a good job with her every time. Usually she gets matted after a while of not grooming her, so shih shed has to shave her down. They still make her look cute when with her short hair. This time, we did so much better keeping her coat mat-free and I asked them to just give her a little trim bc I love when her hair is curly and puffy. I was nervous, but they did exactly what they said they would and made her look like a little stuffed animal. Chefs kiss 😘
