In Houston, daycares and kennels usually ask for proof of rabies, distemper and bordetella vaccinations and a short temperament test before the first stay. Across Texas, holiday weekends and summer book out weeks ahead, so reserve early and ask about pickup windows, which can be shorter on Sundays. Pet sitters and walkers should be insured and bonded; ask for references and a meet-and-greet first. Check the listing for hours, phone number and Google rating.

Houston is in Texas, in the South, where summers are hot and humid, winters are short, and severe storms in spring are a fact of life; businesses run air conditioning most of the year and many open early to beat the heat. Getting around Houston is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Texas's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

I recently moved into the EaDo area and I work long hours. I did some searching for dog friendly areas and stumbled upon “the Green Bone”. AND WHAT A LIFE SAVER ITS BEEN! It’s only been my pups second day but he was already trying to jump off the car trying to get in. All the pup parents that I’ve seen tell me their dogs love it too and have been coming for years! Def a GREEN flag :)

We absolutely love Green Bone! My dog gets so excited when we arrive and can’t wait to see the staff and her friends. It makes me so happy knowing she’s somewhere she loves. The team there is amazing and takes such great care of her. Thank you all! 💚🦴

So happy I found The Green Bone! Luna loves this place so much. All the staff have been so friendly and attentive. She’s new to their daycare and everytime they see me the staff goes out of their way to tell me how she is doing. Everyone is kind and knowledgable and I love that they do a behavior evaluation before initiating dogs into daycare. I plan on trying out their grooming services too.

This was the first time coming to the Green Bone and it was excellent! Our Halo had his Mohawk restored and Zoe was relaxed and refreshed after a day of pampering! Maybe I'll get some color on Halo next time!
