Vets and pet-health businesses handle what a groomer cannot. General veterinarians and animal hospitals do checkups, vaccinations, dental cleanings, spaying and neutering and sick visits; emergency and 24-hour vets treat injuries and sudden illness at night and on weekends; mobile vets come to the house; rehab centers offer physical therapy, hydrotherapy and acupuncture; and pet pharmacies fill prescriptions and sell prescription diets. Groomers often spot skin problems, ear infections, lumps or overgrown nails first and will suggest a vet visit.

Hours are published for 5 days a week. The most common schedule is 8 am–5 pm. It is closed on Saturday, Sunday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (603) 742-6369. Dover is in New Hampshire, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Dover is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across New Hampshire's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

I have a sphynx cat who has a few special health needs and developed a vet phobia/fear 5 years ago after an emergency trip for urinary issues. We brought him to a couple places after this and even medicated he could not handle the visits. It was devastating for him and for me, to be honest. I took a chance at The Cat Doctor and they have all been amazing and compassionate with him. They offer sedation visits so he can still get his health needs met and not be traumatized. We will never go anywhere else!

I cannot say enough good things about this practice! Finding a cat-only vet has been a total game-changer. The environment is incredibly calm and quiet, which makes a world of difference for our guys. From the moment you walk in, the staff is incredibly warm and friendly. The cat decorations are top-notch, and I love the little daily welcome sign with all the visiting pets' names! The medical care itself is phenomenal. The entire team is hyper-knowledgeable, deeply caring, and prompt with access to care. It’s incredibly convenient that they handle dental work right here, too. Plus, parking is super easy. If you want a team that truly understands and loves cats, this is the place to go!

I had my first appointment with the Cat Doctor of Dover yesterday- afterward I texted my husband and said "The appointment went so well- they are magicians!!" I was so anxious before arriving thinking that our cat would have a very stressful visit, as she had at our previous vet. They knew exactly what to do here. Most importantly, each time I brought up a possible friction point in the exam that I was anticipating they fully acted with that feedback in mind and pivoted to accommodate. I could not have been happier and am looking forward to being a lifelong client! I also felt the pricing was very reasonable. I was lucky enough to meet both doctors and really liked them both. Now I can breath a sigh of relief!

Everyone is always so kind and caring to our cat at The Cat Doctor. They explain things and listen to my concerns, they are attentive and knowledgeable. There are so many tiny details that make use feel welcome and respected every time we need to visit. I’m very thankful for the care we get for our cat at this vet and would recommend anyone to the office.

I've been taking my kitties to The Cat Doctor for 15 years - these vets know everything there is to know about cats, and the results show it. They handle/approach my kitties with great kindness, they clearly explain their diagnoses, and best of all if it's a curable issue the cats get better. If not curable, often the problem can be managed and the cat is made comfortable. When I used to take my cats to a general vet, the diagnoses were sometimes "off," so the cat did not get better and another treatment was tried - all of which cost more time and money plus a kitty still sick. So take your kitties to The Cat Doctor - it's the best thing you can do for them and yourself.
