About The Bark House
Located at 13 Contractor Rd, Hermon, ME 04401, The Bark House operates as a pet groomer serving Hermon in Maine. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it. Google also lists it under pet boarding service, dog day care center, which is worth knowing if you are comparing several options in the area.
Pet groomers bathe, brush, trim and style dogs and cats, and most also clip nails, clean ears and express anal glands. A full groom usually includes a bath, blow-dry, haircut and tidy-up; a bath-and-brush package skips the haircut and suits short-coated breeds. Salon groomers work from a shop with tubs and drying stations, mobile groomers bring a fitted van to your driveway, which is easier on anxious, elderly or reactive pets, and self-service dog washes rent a raised tub, shampoo and dryer by the session. Cat groomers handle lion cuts and matted coats with calmer, quieter setups, and many salons offer add-ons such as teeth brushing, de-shedding treatments, blueberry facials and paw balm.
Hours are published for 7 days a week. On most of those days it is open 7 am–6 pm. Hermon is in Maine, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Hermon is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Maine's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

We have had our dogs groomed and boarded here. The groomer doesn’t listen well to what we’re asking for. I asked her to pluck my doodle’s ears to prevent an ear infection, and when I brought her home I saw her ears weren’t plucked at all. I called and they said to bring her back. She took her in the back for 2 to 3 minutes tops, and then sent her back out with powder in her ear canals and still full of hair. She got an ear infection and it cost $150 to treat at the vet. I learned how to pluck her ears myself after that. Most recently, we boarded our dogs there for 12 days. Our little yorkie poo came home with a massive amount of poop matted to her bum and she was straining trying to poop. My husband rushed her to the vet, and she had to be put under anesthesia to have it removed. She has necrosis in her bowels (dying tissue!!!!!) and the vet thinks she may have not pooped for up to 7 days. She’s wearing a cone, has antibiotics and anti inflammatory meds, a salve, and is taking miralax. We’ve paid $604 to the vet, additional $ for all of the meds, and she has to have 2 follow up appointments at $65 each to make sure she doesn’t go into septic shock. The backhouse refunded our stay (

We adopted a greyhound and used Dog Daycare a couple of times when we were out of town for a day. He absolutely loved it (and he slept very well when he got home). I know several people at the dog park that take their dogs here and they love it too. Nice facility and the owner was very kind. Couldn't recommend it more.

This place is absolutely phenomenal. Unbelievable to find such an amazing business in Bangor. We started taking our dogs to the Bark House to socialize them and it turned out to be a real game changer. Rosie and River love this place. The staff are always so welcoming to us and our canines and we have absolutely no qualms about boarding them here when we need to leave town for a few days. Their "bedroom suites" are sound-proofed, heated and come with flat panel televisions to keep our babies company. Best of all, the staff are extremely caring and seem to really love their work. Pictures of the dogs' activities/antics are posted on their website daily, which we really love.

I cannot say enough good things about the Barkhouse!! I catch myself advertising this business to everyone I know and talk to. The owners, Jess and Al, are such down to earth people who truly care about what they’re doing. My dog Lola absolutely LOVES going to daycare and playing with all her friends, plus getting to see all her favorite people that work there! Everyone knows Lola’s name and gets so excited to see her! This facility is so welcoming and I love being able to see right into the play area when I pick up/drop off Lola. They’ve created such a warm and welcoming atmosphere that it feels like dropping Lola off at a family member’s house (but better haha). It’s such a great feeling knowing our pup is so well taken care of, and loved at The Barkhouse. Being able to drop her off and pick her up quickly makes it easy for my busy work schedule. PLUS, we get to see photos posted of her on their Facebook every time she goes to daycare! I love seeing her and all the friends she got to play with each day she goes. I HIGHLY recommend the Barkhouse to everyone!!

I brought my dog here for the first time last week and LOVED our experience! My dog is normally very anxious during grooming appointments but the staff gave her some time to warm up to them before the appointment, and said that she did great. Within an hour she was done getting groomed and she looked so much better! Everyone working was so friendly and it was such a welcoming atmosphere. This made it so easy to trust them with my pup. Highly recommend The Bark House!!❤️
