Boulder is in Colorado, in the Mountain West, where the high elevation brings cold snowy winters, warm dry summers and big day-to-night temperature swings; ski and summer tourist seasons shape opening hours in resort towns. Getting around Boulder is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Colorado's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Our work with Alex and the Strong Bond team has been and continues to be profound. To really benefit from this work, you have to be willing to look inward and recognize how connected your dog’s behavior is to you and your pack's behavior. You’re committing to self-work and co-regulation together. Before working with Alex, I would say I was uncertain and insecure as a dog owner, and my dog reflected that back. The confidence, trust, and mutual respect that Alex helps foster between you and your dog will ripple out into the rest of your life. Our whole pack is more confident, compassionate, and curious thanks to Alex and the Strong Bond team. Beyond their training philosophy, they are reliable, professional, and punctual. We've felt very supported and this has been a great investment in our family. Thank y’all so much!

Alex at Strong Bond is such a wonderful trainer, and the foundation of his training style is really inspiring! From the moment I learned about their approach, my eyes have been really opened into how I’m interacting with my pup. It sounds silly, but it really is astonishing just how important trust is with your dog! I went from being nervous and unsure about whether or not my dog would be a good service dog prospect, to having such an amazing service dog in training! With Alex’s help, she’s becoming such a well-rounded pup. Every time my pup, Nasha, sees Alex, her eyes light up with so much excitement and she’s ready to learn! Such an amazing approach to training at Strong Bond, and absolutely worth every penny.

Strong Bond has far exceeded our expectations for a dog trainer. We have a rescue Pointer Pitbull that hasn’t been socialized. Sassy Girl is a sweetheart at home but doesn’t know how to interact with new people and is anxious in new places. Strong Bond is training us to help her navigate these situations with her.

Working with Alex at Strong Bond Dog Training completely changed our relationship with our dog, Rocco and honestly, it changed us too. We initially came in hoping to help Rocco get the tools he needed as a puppy to be able to walk off leash, listen to commands and not eat everything he came across, but what we gained was so much more. We had a horrific experience with dog training in the past and so we were looking for more of a hands on experience of us working with the trainer as well. Through Alex’s training, Rocco absolutely learned how to listen and respond, but the biggest transformation was in us. My husband and I learned how to truly listen to Rocco to understand his needs, meet them well, look to ourselves, and stop labeling behaviors as “bad.” Alex helped us see that every behavior is communication. This mindset shift alone was life changing. Instead of frustration, we now have trust. Instead of correction, we give clear, calm feedback so Rocco understands what we’re asking and give him the chance to make mistakes so we can guide him in a better direction. Instead of not letting him try something that didn’t work out in the past we look to ourselves to see why we have

We’ve had a really positive experience working with Alex. He is a truly kind person and it’s clear he cares deeply about the dogs he trains. He has a unique approach to training that focuses on what’s best for the individual dog, and he has gone above and beyond to help my sister and me with our challenges. Our dog (Onyx) has become so much happier and has learned a lot, and we have too. My sister and I have been working very hard with Onyx, and we have, at times, been discouraged to hear that what we're doing isn’t enough. That being said, we know the feedback comes from his passion and compassion, and I do think Alex genuinely wants to see us succeed; he wants the best for both the dogs and the owners, which we really value. Overall, Alex is an excellent trainer with a big heart for dogs, and I would recommend him to others looking for someone who truly has the dog’s best interest at heart. Oh, and I highly recommend reading his book! It totally changed my perspective about being a good caretaker and dog owner.
