We have a Border Collie/Rottweiler mix - at a little over one year old she was a big girl with standard puppy behavior! She definitely has more energy than your average dog, but we were putting in the effort and not understanding why our training wasn’t sticking. We brought her to John in early January and when I tell you we had a completely different dog by April, I’m not kidding! He really helped us to learn how to speak her language. We had just as much learning and training to do ourselves as she did, but once we did the response was immediate. I think I most appreciate that John was honest and direct. He would challenge me in sessions to practice while we were in person so he could make sure we understood, and he even came to our house to see us interact and practice in her home space and catch her triggers (squirrels of course lol). I’m so grateful we found this service and John’s expertise. 10/10 would recommend any day!! Do the training if you want to be a better dog parent!

My malinois and I had a very good time learning with John. He is very knowledgeable when it comes to understanding dogs and their behaviors. He's not only training my high energy malinois, he's helping me understand her better and gave some very good tips. Definitely scheduling again.

John has been training my 4 month old German Shepherd, Maximus. The experience has exceeded my expectations. He never misses a call or text when I need help. He never rushes through his answers to my questions and gives solid reasoning behind every answer. He know dogs!!! For sure. My boy Maximus already knows sit, stay, down, come, heel, no and he walks well on leash. He even let's Maximus learn to behave around other dogs by socializing him with his 3 well trained dogs. I would highly recommend Sjabo. If you want a confident behaved dog....John is the trainer to see.

I reached out to John when my puppy was 4 months old and I realized I was in way over my head. He responded within a few hours and had me on his schedule within a few days. From the moment Shadow and I walked into training I felt a sense of relief that I had made the right decision. Within the hour we had a game plan on how to move forward with basic training and John and Ariel made me feel empowered that I was able to handle my strong willed puppy. Fast forward and we have excelled at basic and advanced training. I now have a dog that settles in my home and can run around outside off leash with nearly perfect recall. I can bring Shadow anywhere and everywhere with me and I have the best buddy I was looking for. I trust him as my dog and he trusts me as his leader. HIGHLY recommend Sjabo dog training to anyone who wants a well behaved and happy dog!!

We brought our then 5 month old Malinois rescue to John nearly 2 years ago. We tried 2 other training services before finding SJABO. We were not satisfied with either. John at SJABO has given us the techniques to teach Ajax manners as well as gain control and respect from Ajax. John’s patience when we struggled with training is impressive. If you listen, learn, ask questions, and practice what he teaches, you and your dog will succeed. I am able to recall Ajax from over a 100 yards away and even from chasing deer- all without the use of the e-collar, simply by voice command. We are so glad we found John and SJABO Dog Training!
