Scenthound James Island is a pet groomer in Charleston, South Carolina. It is listed at 520 Folly Beach Road Ste 0110, Charleston, SC 29412, which places it among the local businesses of Charleston that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by. Besides its main category, the business also describes itself as fur service, so it may cover more than the name suggests.
Pet groomers bathe, brush, trim and style dogs and cats, and most also clip nails, clean ears and express anal glands. A full groom usually includes a bath, blow-dry, haircut and tidy-up; a bath-and-brush package skips the haircut and suits short-coated breeds. Salon groomers work from a shop with tubs and drying stations, mobile groomers bring a fitted van to your driveway, which is easier on anxious, elderly or reactive pets, and self-service dog washes rent a raised tub, shampoo and dryer by the session. Cat groomers handle lion cuts and matted coats with calmer, quieter setups, and many salons offer add-ons such as teeth brushing, de-shedding treatments, blueberry facials and paw balm.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ More Than a Grooming Appointment — It Was the Beginning of a New Life I honestly didn’t think yesterday would be the day I rescued my third dog, but Lord willing, that’s exactly what happened. ❤️🐾 Ginger unexpectedly came into my life after being in a situation where she wasn’t treated the way she deserved. I didn’t plan on bringing home another dog, but sometimes life puts a soul in your path and you simply know you’re supposed to help. And that’s where Scenthound James Island made such a beautiful first impression. Ginger’s groomers, Mady and Grace, treated her with so much patience, kindness, and genuine care. For a dog beginning a completely new chapter, that meant more to me than they probably realize. They didn’t just groom Ginger. They helped make one of her first experiences in her new life a positive one. She came home happy, beautiful, and feeling loved—and seeing that honestly touched my heart. Mady and Grace, thank you for treating Ginger with the compassion she deserves. ❤️ You may have only spent part of a day with her, but you became part of the beginning of her new story. I’m incredibly grateful. Sometimes we think we’re rescuing a dog… when in reality

I drove approximately 45 minutes to this location based on the strong reviews. My dog is a one‑year‑old, 4‑pound Biewer Terrier, and this was only his second grooming appointment in his life. Prior to arriving, staff informed me by phone that I could bring him in early due to it being his first visit and that the service would take no more than two hours. I checked him in at 1:00 PM. I received one update text within the first 30 minutes saying he was being brave during his bath, and then no further communication. At 3:24 PM—over two hours later—I still had not been updated on his progress or any challenges. When I returned, I was told he had been very anxious with the grooming equipment and that staff had been taking breaks to help him calm down. However, none of this was communicated to me during the appointment despite being told I would receive updates. Even though I appreciate the playfulness among the staff placing bets if “he’s going to be feisty or not,” this time could be diligently used for communicating with the customer. Because the grooming could not be completed, I chose to end the appointment for the day. At checkout, I was charged for the full grooming bundle even

I'm very disappointed with my Golden Retriever, Dolly's appointment yesterday 7/13/2026. When I dropped Dolly off, I specifically requested the blowout package with the coconut treatment, a nail grind, a sanitary trim, with only a light trim to her "pants", tail and bum. Based on the pricing listed on your website, I was expecting to pay $84 for those services. When I arrived to pick her up, I was told my total was $126. No one contacted me to discuss or obtain my approval for any additional services or charges. When I questioned the price, the employee at the front desk acted as though I was being dishonest about what I had been quoted and made me pull up your website on my phone to show her the pricing. That was both embarrassing and unprofessional with other customers waiting too. After I showed her the pricing, the total was changed back to $84. I then attempted to pay with my bank card, but I was told I couldn't use it and that the card on file would have to be charged instead. I did not understand why I wasn't allowed to use the payment method I presented, and no explanation was provided before the card on file was processed. Unfortunately, the grooming itself was even mo

It was Fletchers first time to visit Scenthound and only the second time he had been professionally groomed. I admit I was hesitant, but Maddie and the staff did a beautiful job. Thank you for taking such great care!

I had a terrible experience with the service at Scenthound. During a recent (and first) appointment in May 2026, the groomer severely lacerated my dog, requiring 5 staples to his right leg, near the “arm pit” area. He also received a partial thickness laceration above his eye. To make matters worse, the actual haircut was uneven and looked as though the groomer did not finish. Ears were not plucked and the sanitary area was left much longer than the rest of his hair. At the end of the grooming, the manager called me to tell me he would be ready in 5 minutes, and that he received a cut to his upper leg and they would show it to me when I picked him up. She said they had the bleeding under control and there was no mention of the cut above his eye. Because of the location of the injury and him in a sitting position, I only saw a small section of the laceration in the shop. Given how they they didn’t seem terribly concerned and not being able to fully see it, I didn’t realize the extent of his injury. It wasn’t until I was home with him, noticed fresh blood in his fur and on his bedding, that I realized it was a much more serious injury. I immediately took him to the vet where it was d
