A awesome store. The customer service was the best. Very friendly and helpful with a lot of animals to choose from. I bought my Very first Hog Island Boa there. He is very beautiful and well behaved and they did a great job taking care of him , like do all their animals. So if you want a beautiful reptile for a pet definitely check it out Scales N Tails Boulder today.

From my 8 year old: "Thank you for saving our frog!" Ben was so wonderfully helpful and non-judgemental when my 8 year old and I came in as hopeful but inexperienced frog caregivers. I wish this was my local location. We will definitely visit again though!

This store has gone downhill recently and their staff leave much to be desired. Granted each location is a franchise and to each their own, but this is the only location that won't allow you into the back to choose your own feeder rats. Conversely, the Northglenn, Englewood & Lakewood locations do. These three other locations also have a staff that is much more friendly and customer service oriented than the staff at the Boulder store. Meanwhile, the Naz- err, staff at the Boulder store will kick you out and refuse to serve you if you don't live up to their expectations as a customer. Trust me when I say it is worth the drive to a different franchise outlet. I would have selected 0 stars if it were possible, but 1 star it is.

This is a great store with nice employees! I got a juvenile axolotl from them last summer and he (presumed male) has been doing fantastic! I was new to axolotls (been fish keeping for a while) and was glad to source a healthy one. At first I was really worried when I realized he had a fused gill, but it doesn’t affect him at all. He was 2.5 inches when I got him and is almost 9 now…big boy. I recommend this location for axolotls. In all honesty the one I got here for $35 is WAY healthier than an expensive one I purchased online (they are kept in separate tanks). If you do not have experience keeping fish or cycling aquariums be cautious in choosing an axolotl as a pet and do your homework so you don’t kill an animal.

I had absolutely the best experience today with Erica. She is so friendly, passionate ,and knowledgeable. She helped me so much figure out all the right things to set up my two new Dumpy tree frogs ( Lime and Lotus) . She helped me plan and create a beautiful waterfall system and taught me sooo much about bioactive vivarium , which I can say I am now a proud owner of. I learned about isopods and springtails The store is clean and I never felt rushed even though I asked tons of questions. Their cricket card is such a smart ideas. And if you buy stuff that you don’t need you can always return it for store credit. I am so happy with my experience and I just wanna shout out again to Erica!!!! Thank you - you rocked today! Now off to being a happy frog momma - knowing that if I ever go out of town for a long time- Lime and Lotus can come back and you’ll babysit them 🐸💚🐸💚🙏🙏thank you so much
