Tacoma is in Washington, in the Pacific Northwest, where winters are mild and wet, summers are dry and pleasant, and outdoor recreation drives a lot of local business; hours change little through the year. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Tacoma follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Jeff Salter the owner of Rocky Junior's Dog Training was recommended to me by the pet store Mud Bay. He is wonderful is helping reactive dogs. He is the only dog trainer I have ever heard of that brings his own dog to help! Highly recommend.

If you’re searching for reactive dog training, leash reactivity help, or a trainer who truly understands fear-based behaviors, Rocky Junior’s Dog Training is outstanding. Our dog Sophie struggled with reactivity on walks—barking, lunging, and getting overwhelmed by other dogs and stimuli. Walks had become stressful and unpredictable, and we were worried this was just “how it would be.” Working with Jeff Salter completely changed that trajectory. Jeff took the time to understand why Sophie was reacting, not just the behavior itself. His approach was calm, structured, and grounded in real-world situations—not just theory. He taught us how to identify triggers early, manage distance and timing, and respond in ways that helped Sophie feel safer and more confident instead of escalating. What really stood out was Jeff’s ability to coach both the dog and the owner. The guidance was clear, practical, and realistic for everyday walks. There was no judgment, no pressure, and no one-size-fits-all method—just thoughtful, effective training tailored to Sophie. We saw meaningful progress: calmer walks, faster recovery when triggers appeared, and a huge boost in our own confidence. Sophie is h

Can’t say enough about Jeff and Rocky junior. They saved our dog, Daisy from a life of extreme fear of other dogs due to lack of early socialization from prior owner. She was reactive and could not even be walked around the block without negative interactions if other animals were present. Jeff’s love for animals and his passion for what he does shines thru and changes lives. Can’t recommend him enough.

Jeff has been great helping teach us what we need to know about working with our older dog and puppy. He is a great dog trainer and is helpful for teaching older dogs and puppies.

When we first took our dog Sammy to Bradley Lake Park with Jeff to diagnose his reactivity he was at the end of a 30 foot line barking and chasing at everything he could see from any distance. We left within about 10 minutes because we knew it was too much for him. Fast forward to today, 9 months later and dozens of hours of training later, I was able to take Sammy to the Hounds on the Hill event where he walked the stalls with hundreds of people and dogs. I wouldn't have been able to get here without Jeff's help, guidance and training. Even after I finished 20 lessons with Jeff I felt confident using the tools he taught me to continue Sammy's training on my own and am absolutely astonished that I can do things with him I was worried I wouldn't ever be able to do. Thank you Jeff for all that you did for us! Sammy is a whole different dog than when he started training.
