For years, my family has trusted PetSmart with both our previous dog and now our Doberman. Until recently, we had never experienced any issues. Unfortunately, the last two appointments have completely destroyed that trust. During our previous appointment, our dog had a bath scheduled well in advance. When we arrived, we learned that the groomer had simply decided she wasn’t going to perform the service—not because of an emergency or because our dog couldn’t be handled, but because she was tired and didn’t have the time or desire to complete the appointment. What was even more concerning was that she reportedly refused to call us to let us know. We only avoided making a completely wasted 30-minute drive because another employee recognized our family’s last name and insisted that we should be contacted. Had that employee not stepped in, we would have shown up only to be turned away. Thinking that was simply one bad experience, we decided to give PetSmart another chance. Today, June 26, we had another appointment that had been scheduled a week in advance for a bath, nail trim, anal gland expression, and finishing spray. I have taken my dog for nail trims for about 2 yrs and they have always done an excellent job. She has black nails and I don't trust myself to do it myself. I tried another groomer that was closer (Superior WI) and they did not trim well enough to even make a noteable difference. Petsmsart in Duluth is worth the drive- they do a great job and work great with their doggie clients!!

I was astonished at the condition of the betta fish. They are kept in tiny Tupperware containers with completely still water (meaning the surface tension is strong and cannot be easily broken) and set up as a grotesque display. Most of the betta were already dead, if not dying, and even the dead fish were flipped to their side(usually belly up) due to the lack of disruption to the surface tension which is necessary for fish to receive adequate O2. I was disgusted by the state in which these fish were being held. I understand that there is a plethora of fish and not enough responsible buyers out there to care for them, but surely we can figure out a solution to this problem.

Nice place and staff. But there are dog owners that come here and let their dogs crap right out front of the store and DO NOT pick up after them - so watch your step! If you cant pick up after your dog, you probably shouldnt have one. PetSmart should address this issue.

Great knowledgeable staff! Can answer most questions quickly. Prices are good and they have a large variety of products to choose from. Really like the self serve pet wash stations. They make it so much easier to clean up the dogs after a hike. We have been using their nail trimming and grinding services lately and our boys like it much better there than other places.
