In Bakersfield, daycares and kennels usually ask for proof of rabies, distemper and bordetella vaccinations and a short temperament test before the first stay. Across California, holiday weekends and summer book out weeks ahead, so reserve early and ask about pickup windows, which can be shorter on Sundays. Pet sitters and walkers should be insured and bonded; ask for references and a meet-and-greet first. Check the listing for hours, phone number and Google rating.
Hours are published for 7 days a week. On most of those days it is open 7 am–7 pm. Bakersfield is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Bakersfield follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

I’ve been looking for a place to board my dog when I am out of town and also occasionally bring them for daycare as needed. I reached out to this facility after having been recommended them by a few people I know. I went in a few days ago to inquire about their services and prices and to possibly see the facility as well. When I went in I was waiting at the front desk for a few minutes and heard yelling and doors slamming, I’m unsure if someone was yelling at a dog or what was going on. Finally a brunette girl came to the front and asked what I needed. I started asking her some questions about pricing and she cut me off and said she didn’t know and would get her coworker. She came back with a redhead girl and I repeated my questions I had about pricing and requirements for my dog to be able to stay. The redhead was very rude from the beginning almost put out that she had to be speaking to me. When I asked if I was able to tour the facility while I was there the redhead informed me that they were doing cleaning and closing up for the night and if I wanted to come back the next day earlier in the day then I could see everything then. I found this odd as it was only around 4:30/5:00 a

I visited a few places in town before deciding on Paws & Claws for my puppy. Their clean facility and friendly staff sold me. I was so nervous to leave my puppy because it was his first time ever being boarded, but he had such a great time! They updated me with pictures and didn’t mind me calling to check on him like a worried mom LOL My puppy was in great spirits when I picked him up and he couldn’t stop giving the staff kisses before we left. I will definitely be sending him there again for play dates and when I need to board him. 💛

I was really nervous to leave one of my dogs in an overnight boarding facility because he's only ever stayed with family but they took such great care of him! I know both my dogs get love and care while I'm gone. I love the pictures they update you with too :)

Our family doesn’t need live cameras to know our 1 1/2 year old Corgi is well loved and cared for while we are away. Our interactions with the staff, their attention to detail and always meeting Oliver’s tailored needs, speaks volumes! Oliver has been going to Paws & Claws since he was about 6 months old and not once have we had any doubt about the level of care he receives while in their hands, and although that is a priceless feeling, we are always happy with their affordable prices! ⭐️ 10/10, HIGHLY RECOMMEND! ⭐️

I had brought my dog here while I had to travel for work for 4 days. Got back and picked him up and nobody mentioned anything about my dog being injured. The second I got home I realized my dog had a huge cut where the skin was actually hanging off of his nose that was packed with dirt. To me personally it looked like a dog bite due to the size and it being a half circle. I called and was told they had put him in a kennel that another dog had chewed up so there were sharp areas and they noticed him multiple times sticking his nose through where it had been chewed. then why didn't you move him to a different kennel??? Or cover that spot????? There is also no way they didn't hear him crying with how badly he was injured. It has now been over 2 weeks since we picked him up and the huge skin flap finally fell off and now my young dog is going to have a ginormous scar across his face because of the negligence of this business. If you love your animal, do not bring them here! Pictures start with the day we picked him up to yesterday when the skin fell off. The scar is going to be huge and is cover a lot of his face.
