Lucky Dog Refuge

Volunteering at Lucky Dog Refuge has been one of the most rewarding experiences. It’s easy to sign up for one-hour shifts, and even that short time makes a huge difference—giving dogs exercise, love, and a better chance at adoption. We also began fostering, which has been such a meaningful way to help dogs adjust to life outside the shelter. We fostered Haisley and Maeve before realizing we wanted to adopt, and in December 2024 we brought home Maisey—who had an incredible journey all the way from Thailand before finding her forever family with us. Recently, we’ve even started fostering again so more pups can find their way home. Lucky Dog truly changes lives—for both dogs and people. Whether you volunteer, foster, or adopt, you’ll be making an impact. We can’t imagine life without Maisey, and we’re so grateful to Lucky Dog for bringing her into our lives. My fiancée and I are so happy we discovered Lucky Dog and have become part of such a wonderful community here in Stamford, CT!

I love volunteering with Lucky Dog rescue . The staff is so caring and dedicated. The dogs are all very well cared for until they find their furever homes. If you are looking for a wonderful companion look not further than Lucky Dog 🐶 🍀

Lucky Dog Refuge matches hearts, not pocketbooks, age or other unimportant criteria. We were matched with Linus, an amazing Beagle of an age and LDR helped us get through it all. Shortly after fostering Linus, we received a call about another Beagle soul that needed to love us. We were down within the hour and Bonnie came home with us. Thank you, Lucky Dog Refuge!

I adopted my two girls from Lucky Dog. We love Lucky Dog Refuge so much. They are doing incredible work and helping the most vulnerable. The staff is wonderful and the dogs are so loved and cared for, for as long as it takes to find them a home. I also volunteer when I can and it fills my heart with joy to be around the Lucky Dogs. If you are thinking about adding a dog to your family, go to Lucky Dog. Adopt don’t shop!

I've had my Lucky Dog for a little over a year now and she's the best thing that ever happened to me! I volunteered here for a few months; one day signed up to transport a pup to an adoption event and ended up adopting and taking her home myself that day! The staff was really helpful while going through the process (took a few hours) - I was so happy that I could take her home that same day. All the pups are taken very good care of and always have all their shots etc. Lucky Dog makes the process super easy with all the proper measures in place, and I've enjoyed continuing to volunteer with them!
