Middletown is in Rhode Island, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Middletown is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Rhode Island's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

I rescued a 10 yo female German shepherd who had so much trauma and fear. Julia came to the rescue and taught both the dog and I how to handle all of it. She no longer wants to eat men who come into the house lol. In all seriousness Julia is absolutely the best trainer and has the best connection with the dogs. I am eternally grateful to her for helping to make my home a happy one ! Thank you Julia! You are magical.

Julia and her team are outstanding!! Our 4 yr old Potter League rescue completed the 2 week board to train program and is a much more confident dog for it. All that is taught to the dog is taught to the human. Follow the training and start enjoying the fun.

Training is not guaranteed. In Dec 2024, 2 year old family dog bit my 8 year old boy on the shoulder due to 4 year old girl having a snack around the dog he should not have. The injury to my 8 year old boy was very mild and did not break skin because the dog stopped his attack without intervention. This was the first time the dog had ever attacked anyone in the family. We sought out Julia Langley/McCarty at Island Canine Academy for training. She was aware of the attack and that we have 3 young children and guaranteed she could help us. She said her services were guaranteed or we would not have felt comfortable paying the huge amount of $2000 for 2 weeks of dog training. The dog was at Julia's facility from 1/10/25 to 1/24/2025. The dog did learn the commands as Julia had stated. However, on the morning of 2/6/2025, the dog mauled my 6 year old girl triggered snacks the 4 year old girl had brought. My husband was in the room and screamed the dog's name to get his attention. The dog ignored him and mauled my 6 year old girl until my husband could get to the dog. My 6 year old girl required stitches in the ED. We called animal control who told us the dog needed a 10 day q

I have to admit, I was a bit of a skeptic. I adopted a 10 month old husky, shepherd, Great Pyrenees rescue puppy. I had always adopted older dogs, I had no experience with puppies and I was in over my head and needed help. After meeting Julia I had a great feeling about her, but still wasn’t sure my stubborn puppy was going to change. I picked him up a week ago and I can’t even believe he is the same puppy I dropped off! I thought it would take a long time to notice a difference… but in just a week I can see the change! I feel completely confident that as long as I continue on with the training he will continue to shine. I am so grateful to Julia and her staff for his transformation! I was able to track his progress via her social media posts and I looked forward to seeing his progress each evening. I cannot recommend Julia and Island Canine Academy enough!! Well worth every penny!!

Julia answered all my questions via email, phone & in person before I committed to school. She posted pictures of the dogs playing and training. I felt Daisy was safe, working and playing hard. Daisy is now home, working on all of the skills she learned. We love to go off leash and having the confidence of recall is amazing. I highly recommend Island Canine Academy.
