South Burlington is in Vermont, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and South Burlington follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

This was my second time visiting, and unfortunately I had the same negative experience with the same employee. I came in genuinely interested in adoption and expected a professional and respectful conversation, but instead I felt judged, dismissed, and unwelcome from the moment I started asking questions. I completely understand that shelters need to be selective and ensure animals go to good homes. I support that process. However, there is a difference between carefully screening adopters and treating people in a way that makes them feel uncomfortable or looked down upon. During both of my visits, the employee’s attitude came across as rude, dismissive, and unnecessarily confrontational. Rather than having a constructive conversation about my living situation, experience with pets, and ability to provide a loving home, I felt like assumptions were made about me before I was given a fair chance to explain anything. What disappointed me most is that this wasn’t a one-time misunderstanding. Having the same experience on two separate visits suggests a pattern rather than an isolated incident. I left feeling frustrated, embarrassed, and discouraged from adopting through this organiz

I just want to start by saying all of the volunteers and other workers are very kind and helpful. However, the new primary coordinator is very unhelpful. She will jump through hoops to make sure her desired age range can adopt, with no regard for young adults. We came and met a very sweet 5 year old cat, she told us to wait until he was on the website. The next day he was, we immediately went to adopt this loving boy. With a signed letter from the dean approving having a cat in the apartment, she then requested we come back another day with paperwork from school inquiring about medical history. These forms do not exist, as the school approves the animal, not the vaccines of the animal. Also, that we cannot have these vaccine records we “need” because we have not adopted him and cannot have access to the medical records. actually bending over backwards to not allow this, then saying “this is not personal”. She also went on to say that even if we get all of this paperwork we cannot even adopt this specific cat, due to the fact we have to travel home for the summer months. She claims when this cat came to the shelter he was very distressed in his carrier, and therefore would not be ab
