Hotel Bellwether

The only good thing about this hotel is the staff, especially in the restaurant, and the view. The rooms are horrible - the carpet is so old that it smells like dirty socks; the fabric on the couches and chairs was incredibly dirty with a pungent odor permeating throughout. We stayed at a standard room (plaza) on the first floor. This room was so old, that it looked like a mouse had died there - one of the first on earth. I'm pretty sure there is mold in this room, but you can decide for yourself. The shower pressure was very low. On the last night of our visit, we stayed at the Bay View suite. It's a way better room, but unfortunately, they had to spray it with some air freshener or sanitation spray to cover the carpet smell, which made it even worse (again, ancient and grotesque). This hotel is mismanaged and does not appear to care about guests. From screwing up the reservation to giving no value to its customers, including the arrogant manager, they need lessons in customer service. I booked a room. Only a parking lot view was available and overpriced at $429 before fees and taxes of over 10 percent. I called after a couple days since I did not receive an email confirmation. They said they could not find my reservation. After calling me back they said it was entered wrong and now found it. So fine, I chalked it up to poor training. We planned to have a couple of friends stop by before the dinner/band at 5pm. They said they have a 4pm check in time and 11 am checkout. I requested an earlier check in for 2pm. They said you can come early but may not be able to get in before 4pm. I talked to the manager who explained how busy and popular their special motel was and would not make any accommodation other than taking a chance to get in. For $500 to look at a parking lot and then restrict me from even getting to use the room, it was of little value to me. The arrogant managers response to me wanting to get in around 2pm was "if it's something you feel strongly
