Not a great experience. The kennels were over crowded. The animals were covered in feces and urine. I felt so bad that any of the animals were there. So we chose 2 dogs to rescue from them. Finding the adoption form took 2 hrs of searching on the internet to find. They called to tell us we were approved and they would call after the dogs visited the veterinary. I called the day after that visit. They didn't have the paperwork and had to call me back on a Friday evening. The adoption amount was $700 for one dog. I told them I would talk to my partner and call them back. He didn't get off work until after they close. I called them back when they opened Saturday morning to arrange a meet with my dogs. They told me we could do that outside so we drove up from Neosho to Joplin not knowing they had adopted one of the dogs out in the 2 hours after I talked to them the night before. They didn't inform us before we drove up. And tried to blame me for their decision. I would never deal with anyone or any organization with so little respect for the animals or people involved in such emotional experience. I just feel sorry any animal in their care.

Numerous accounts of this place doing the absolute minimum for their animals. Google their business name, look them up on Facebook, make sure to do thorough research before giving them anymore money to do what they do. There are plenty of other local centers/individuals who truly do their best to care for each and every animal. This place is not of one of them.

Worst experience with an “adoption” ever! They do not care about those animals, they sell them. When I got home 3 hours later and was looking over the cat i noticed she was severely matted. The shelter worker said she was “fluffy” the cat was sooo dirty. She had poop stuck to her tail/butt and who knows what it was on her legs (black matting). Her nose was running, face dirty. Nails so long they are getting stuck in the carpet and she keeps getting stuck on blankets and sheets. I called a groomer over, she disclosed the cat as flea droppings, most likely an upper respiratory infection and possibly ear mites. She couldn’t finish shaving the cat because the cat was to worked and loosing her breath. So now I have a half shaved poopy sick cat until the vet can get her in. I called golden paw up and asked them why would they let an animal go home in this condition. She answered they are short staffed, the answer to everything. I said well you knew I was coming for a week. I could have waited until the cat is healthy and at least clean. She responded you weren’t the only one to pick up a cat. Like that was answer! It’s an excuse this place is a money maker, I feel like the are in cahoots

We couldn’t be happier!! My wife and I drove from Tulsa on Saturday to see “Izzy Belle”! She is such a sweet addition to our home. She has adjusted to our home very quickly, and us to her! Thank you “Golden Paw” for all you do for all animals! Izzy is truly a blessing from God!!
