Essex County Branch Brook Park Dog Park

I only bring my dog to this dog park when its empty but the few times that I have brought him there with dogs has been great. I've met really great dog owners who know body language and are very aware of their dog and their dog actions which I love they are quick to take accountability for their dog and are generally pretty open to conversation or letting you be. Lots of owners don't pick up after their dog but maintenance seems like they're trying their best to keep up. My only gripes with this park is the lack of shade in the big dog section despite the little dog park having several trees for shade and the equipment is broken and has been for awhile with no signs of being fixed. Other than that its the small dogs going into the big dog park and then yelling at your or looking at you sideways when you bring your big dog into the big dog park where they belong but refuse to leave. Honestly have ended up just turning around and walking the loop instead of going to the park because of the little dogs in the big dog area with no intentions of moving over.

Great park, lovely people when there are people there very sparce the few times we have been. My only gripe is it's sand/ gravel and no grass like the entire area around it. The city has enough concrete the pups need some off leash time I the grass.

Love this park everyone is friendly & inviting to both me and my fur baby. I like that there is a separation for small and large dogs. We have made so many friends there, we have been to a birthday party there too.

My dog really like this park. The people and dogs were friendly towards us. It is clean, with plenty of benches to sit while you pet 🐕 enjoy themselves. I have been to parks where I notice I had to keep and eye on him so he doesn't try to get out the area through a hole in the fence. There's nothing to worry about here, brand new and looks like it.

Nice and clean but small compared to the size of the park. It could have been a little bigger. Also, there are no trees to shade the benches for the dog owners to sit on. The water fountain on the small dog side was either not working or not turned on. Although there's a park entrance near the dog park you have to drive a long ways to get to exit the park because it's one way traffic on the road near the dog park. I think the fencing should be taller like at Brookdale's Dog Park. All in all I'm happy Newark has a dog park.
