In October, my husband and I adopted a senior bully named Gertrude from the shelter. Rory and the rest of the team took the time to tell us everything we needed to know about her and made sure she was the right fit for our family. Since we already had a young pit bull at home, the shelter truly went above and beyond to set Gertrude up for success. They welcomed us to bring our dog in for multiple meetings to ensure they were compatible, since Gertrude was dog selective (they are now bffs). They also helped guide us through the process of introducing a second dog into our home to make the transition as seamless as possible. 10 months later and Gertrude is the light of our lives. We had to remove a few teeth and add an allergy supplement but otherwise she is a healthy happy Gerty. She loves her sprinkler, long walks in the shade, her spiky squeaker ball, heated blankets, and her new brother (but she HATES bananas). Cannot speak highly enough about the shelter for taking the time and care to learn about each individual dog, and make sure they are sent to the right home. We ❤️ our Gertrude. Thank you everybody!!

We adopted our sweet boy Bronco (Trapper) in September of 2025. He spent 10 months in the shelter, and the staff at EAS did an amazing job caring for him until our paths crossed. We are so grateful for everything they did for our baby, especially never giving up on him. For having spent almost a year in the shelter, he was well socialized when we adopted him. He never showed any aggression and just cuddles up in our laps as if he’s not 75 pounds. We know a lot of that is attributed to the love and care the EAS staff showed him throughout his time there. The shelter staff clearly love the animals they care for and work hard to serve the community. At the beginning of the year, I found a dog running in the street, and I didn’t hesitate to bring him to EAS, where they scanned his microchip and safely returned him to his owners. Thank you to everyone who cared for Bronco—whenever we run into his EAS friends on our walks he is one happy boy! We are forever grateful for all of you ❤️

To preface before I get into my complaint, I fully understand that animal safety is a large and valid concern for an animal shelter. Today me and my sister had to stop by the animal shelter, as we wanted to visit the cats and see if there were any we would be open to adopt. We went inside, met with the less than welcoming staff, and asked if it was possible for us to go into the cat room. *Like we have done before*. We were questioned about our age and asked if filled out paper work. We were told you needed to be 21+ to go into the cat room. We are 24, 19 and 17 years olds. We were also told that our 24 year old sister could not be a guardian for us and that we would need a parent. 19 and 17 needed a parent to look at cats, in cages. To me it makes no sense how at the age of 18 I can run for president I can legally purchase a firearm, I could serve in the military and die for the country, I can donate blood, I could become an organ doner, I can vote, I can adopt a child, I can get married I could buy a house, but I cannot go into a room to look at cats. I would love to understand why you must be over 21 to go into a room and look at cats. like I said earlier, I understand their sa

My dad & I adopted a kitty named Mulan about a month ago. We are absolutely in love with her & she is the sweetest thing! She had her tail amputated so we were a little nervous with the healing process but they had us come back for a check up with their vet to insure everything was fine & guided us through the whole process. Everybody was extremely friendly!! Barbara helped us through whole adoption process, she was extremely helpful, the SWEETEST person & so easy to talk to! They gave us some toys for her too and she is still obsessed with them to this day!

I recently adopted a 4-month-old kitten from Edison Municipal Animal Shelter and I couldn’t be happier. The staff was super welcoming and made the whole process easy. They were transparent, helpful, and clearly care about the animals’ wellbeing. My kitten is healthy, playful, and already feels like part of the family. Thank you for everything!
