My dog passed away and the SPCA made it so hard. The people at the front desk were very rude. They showed no empathy. I paid money for all these services and everything was wrong. The urn was wrong. The writing on the urn was wrong. The paw print was wrong and now I’m missing my dogs fur that cannot be replaced. I can honestly say I will never use them again and I will never recommend them to anybody

Just came to adopt a cat at 4:32pm and knew exactly which kitten I wanted and she said they stop adoptions at 4:30pm so they don’t get overtime… and that someone else was looking at the cat even though the couple was off socializing with another cat. All I heard was that she was a lazy employee who didn’t want to fill out paperwork and have possible ten minutes overtime, and that she’d rather have a kitten sit in a cage for another night…if I am there and ready to adopt and I know exactly which cat I wanted and it’s only two minutes passed a adoption time window that’s not advertised online…. Why not give that situation good graces and get the kitten adopted. Employees who don’t work for the betterment of the pets shouldn’t be the front man for adoption sales. She turned down a sale for the business and was rude about a two minute window I didn’t even know about….and now that kitten has to sit there and I won’t be returning to look for another pet companion there ever again.

I found the employees were very polite and efficient. My lost Dog was happy and healthy. The cost for shots given were very reasonable. But most importantly, the facility was extremely clean!

Hershey, our sweet blind little stray, has finally been safely trapped and brought to Oakland SPCA. He’s now getting the care he’s needed all along, treatment, possibly enucleation, and a real chance at a loving forever home. There’s a real ache in not seeing him around anymore. It leaves a quiet space that’s hard to ignore. But alongside that pain is a deep sense of peace, knowing he’s finally in the hands of people who can give him everything we couldn’t. They truly are incredible, and we trust that he’s exactly where he needs to be. We love you so much, little man. 😢 You’ll always be a part of us. Never forgotten. 🐾 Update: Hershey’s behavior had begun to regress in the shelter environment, and euthanasia was becoming the only remaining option, so we made the decision to adopt him. He’s been with us for three weeks now after having a double enucleation, and the transformation has been incredible. He is playful, completely tame, affectionate, engaged, and genuinely happy. Now that he is no longer living in pain, we’re getting to see sides of his personality that we never had the chance to see before. He is full of love and such a joy to have around. I cannot express how deep

Was looking to rescue a dog after loosing my most recent pup to old age. The east bay spca made it a very pleasant and painless experience. The employees were kind and treated the animals with lots of love. If you are on the fence about rescuing animals, don’t hesitate they are the most grateful, loyal, and loving companions. I had a great experience adopting from this shelter. Welcome to your forever home little guy 🥰 EDIT: Theo is two next month and HE IS THE BEST BOY EVER!! BESTIES FOR LIFE!!
