Utica is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Utica is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across New York's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Nice, small sized dog park. This one doesn't have equipment or anything like that really to play on. Just open space for running. Divided into big dogs and small dogs. Has water fountains for pups and benches for their people to sit on. Plenty of parking and also accessible by walking through the park, but I really wish they had a sidewalk going up Welsh bush road from the regular park to the dog park. If you choose not to cut through the park full of people, you must walk up the busy road with no sidewalk or even grass to walk on, with a dog. Not the safest. Only other issue I've had is people letting their dogs run up and act aggressive without taking time to reassure others. If your dog is acting like it will attack my dog if it gets the chance, I'm going to assume it's aggressive. If your dog is just a barker and won't really act, then you should step up and say so instead of letting the other pet owner figure out the situation for themselves while you sit and watch with your arms behind your head without a care in the world. Not that hard to say "he's just a loud mouth, he won't hurt anyone". Sorry, got sidetracked by a sore memory LMAO. Just don't be THAT person, ok folks?

Love that there's a big dog park and a small dog park. Don't love that people can't/won't pick up after their dogs and not to be gross, but considering the size of some of the droppings, there were big dogs in the small dog park. There is a waste receptacle with bags, a drinking faucet that's off no w, probably due to the cold. The fence has approximately a 3-4 inch gap at the bottom, so it's possible a really small dog could get under it. Still, it's a nice area, plenty of parking and we have had it to ourselves 4 out of the 5 times we visited.

Beautiful HUGE dog Park with points of interest like hydrants, a gazebo for humans, a water fountain for dogs and people, and a water pump for especially hot days! Double doors, and high fences!!!

Much needed. Long overdue. We need more places for our dog children to play with others. This is great. My boy Cheeno loves to go and socialize with other dogs. Well, if you call an hour of trying to mount and jump everything moving socializing that is.

There is a parking lot at the dog park, located on Welsh Bush Road at the intersection with South Park Drive. You can park there or walk from the main parking lot at T.R. Proctor Park near the new playground— either on the sidewalk on Welsh Bush Rd or on the path with the pedestrian bridge that crosses Starch Factory Creek. There are two separate fenced areas, one for large dogs and one for small dogs. Each area is equipped with a trash can, dog washing station, and a water fountain for both people AND dogs. There is also a sheltered area with benches in both parks. For now, the park appears to be free to access as long as your dog has a valid license, but according to a posted notice from the office of the city clerk, they will be charging fees and requiring a permit to use the park.
