Grand Island is in Nebraska, in the Midwest, where summers are warm, winters are cold and snowy, and most errands are done by car; businesses keep steady year-round hours with the usual holiday changes. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Grand Island follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. They are amazing! Today we went to their adoption event down at chow down and they were very helpful and very nice. One of the ladies stopped and greeted my family and I and also gave us information and asked us what we were looking for in a puppy/dog and then gave us all the options they had. All of the volunteers who were handling the dogs were also very nice and they were overall very helpful and kind.

These folks truly care about the animals they serve. I've dropped off stray cats a few times and know they do their best to find them good homes. I've also adopted through them and found their animals a great value plus you're rescuing rather than supporting breeders and mills. We love our "Jimmy" we adopted. If you're looking for a friend, you'll find the best ones here!

This shelter is one of the most inconsiderate shelters I have ever come across. They refuse to disclose information regarding missing cats, and were COMPLETELY inappropriate with my friend. If you ever need any helps from strays, this institution will not give you any helpful information or even consolidation regarding those strays. This shelter lacks proper communication and basic human empathy, and hopefully you never lose a cat to this shelter.

I’m extremely disappointed and think your humane society needs to reassess its values and how it handles stray animals. Seeing my friends cat posted for adoption instead of being listed as a found stray and returned to its owner was upsetting and unacceptable. There should be stronger efforts to identify and reunite pets with their families before putting them up for adoption.

Everyone always says “Adopt don’t Shop!” YA RIGHT… This shelter has a lot wrong with it and it almost seems like they judge you when you come in and decide if you can have a dog or not before even saying hello. I am a professional dog trainer and have been training dogs for over 5 years! Have 25 acres of land, specific dog training areas indoor and outdoor, and multiple dog runs. I have worked with behavioral dogs, basic obedience dogs, advanced obedience, stock dog training and even service dogs! When I went in to look and possibly adopt a dog for my training program, I was rudely greeted at the door. All of the dogs I saw were under weight I didn’t seem to see any that looked a healthy weight. (Which I understand they may be in the process of gaining that great but I feel they should have some kind of sign saying that.) The kennels were gross and everything smelt like pee some dogs even had visible pee stains on their paws and tails. We looked passed all of the red flags thinking “okay maybe they are short staffed today and are a little behind.” Only to come back up to the front desk with a few dogs we wanted to see and 5 girls standing around chatting. We saw a dogs and chose o
