This location and the people who work here are truly one of a kind. This review is long overdue, but I wanted to make sure I wrote it. My wonderful pup Oswald started here when he was just over 12 weeks old and I really credit his amazing personality, temperament, and social qualities to the amazing staff at Canine to Five in Detroit. I was a full time student, and Oswald was enrolled 3-5x per week. The packages at the time were incredible and so worth it knowing how much help I would need getting through the puppy stages. They took photos, gave me frequent updates, and were overall just so kind to him. My puppy came home exhausted every day from all the fun he was having, and on the days he didn't go, I could tell it was just waiting to get back! Unfortunately, Oswald injured himself at home and ended up having a very complex recovery (which included multiple surgeries over the course of 6 months), and of course, could no longer be around other dogs while he was recovering. Paige, Allison, and Kelsey worked with me so closely during this time as I needed to extend/edit my package as a result of his injury, and they are truly amazing people. The only place that can trim my dog's nails properly! I brought my four-year-old mini dachshund, Bennie, here a few months ago because he would not allow ANYONE near his nails for a trim. To my astonishment, he was done in FIVE MINUTES, with no fuss at all! I booked an appointment for a bath and nail trim, and Jen handled it expertly. The fact that she has a mini dachshund herself gave me peace of mind that he was in good hands. I will continue to visit Jen and Canine to Five any time Bennie is in need. THANK YOU.

We traveled in for a two day concert with our dog and booked a pet friendly hotel. We were not aware he could not be left unattended in the room. At the last minute we contacted Canine To Five and they were able to board our dog. The staff was amazing, very personable and animal lovers.

I took my dog to get groomed here and it was not what I expected. They never asked me what type of cut did I want on him or nothing, it felt like the rushed me out the building. I paid $140 just to get my dog shaved down. I was not aware that groomer was going to do this nor would I have agreed. Canine to five charged me for a matted clean up with a medicated shampoo but he still came back home with flakes in his skin. I didn’t think that they would be cutting all the hair off. I knew that my dog had a few matted area due to the season changing ( winter coat coming out) but I don’t think he need to be shave down that far. Not only did I pay too much just for a dog to get shaved, he also came home to a big indent of hair cut without it being blended in. I wish I was told that the grooming area closed at 12pm. I dropped my dog off at 11:30 am and didn’t get him back till 6pm. I wasn’t notified that he was done till I called up there and someone told me that he was. When I came to pick him up he was still on the grooming side closed up. I feel bad that he has to walk around like that till his coat comes back in. I have a three year old, extremely energetic Shih-Tzu. And this may be her second favorite place on Earth. (aside from sleeping in my lap). She goes in once a week for a day of play while I work. She has memorized the route and will growl and bark at me to complain of I don’t follow the “correct” route! Almost everyone knows her on site and when we check in I often don’t have to tell them who she is. She boards with them, plays with them, and loves them. I recently went on vacation and they sent photos of her and told me about her day. They really do take great care of her and the other dogs very well. Sometimes I even get impromptu photos of her! I love the Facebook group and all the photos they take and post throughout the day. And when I pick her up she’s just as happy to go home with me. At that point, she really needs the nap. And that works for us both!
