Pet groomers bathe, brush, trim and style dogs and cats, and most also clip nails, clean ears and express anal glands. A full groom usually includes a bath, blow-dry, haircut and tidy-up; a bath-and-brush package skips the haircut and suits short-coated breeds. Salon groomers work from a shop with tubs and drying stations, mobile groomers bring a fitted van to your driveway, which is easier on anxious, elderly or reactive pets, and self-service dog washes rent a raised tub, shampoo and dryer by the session. Cat groomers handle lion cuts and matted coats with calmer, quieter setups, and many salons offer add-ons such as teeth brushing, de-shedding treatments, blueberry facials and paw balm.

Las Cruces is in New Mexico, in the Southwest, where the desert climate brings very hot summers, mild sunny winters and the summer monsoon; outdoor businesses shift their hours toward early mornings and evenings in the hottest months. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Las Cruces follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

I am heartbroken and wish I had done more research before choosing a boarding facility. I am shattered by the loss of my beautiful soul dog, Thomas. I boarded my three dogs from July 7 through July 15. On July 10, while my family was on vacation, Calista Animal Hospital called asking if Thomas could be a blood donor for another dog. I declined because we were so far away and I wasn’t comfortable with anything happening while we couldn’t be there with him. On July 15, I picked up my dogs. Thomas was brought out last. The moment he walked through the hallway door, I knew something was terribly wrong. Thomas didn’t run to me, he wasn’t jumping or wagging his tail, he didn’t even look excited to see me. I immediately asked what had happened. He was walking like a robot. His gums were incredibly tacky, his abdomen was visibly enlarged, and when I gently lifted the skin on the back of his neck, it remained tented until I pushed it back down. He wasn’t panting and his eyes were extremely red. The boarding technician apologized and said, “I’m sorry he’s wet. He was playing in the pool and gulped down a ton of water.” The manager, Jesus, repeatedly insisted that Thomas was fine. It was

Excellent care! My pets have been long time campers at Camp Calista. Vincent has been our go to counselor for each pet I’ve had. He treats them as his own which brings me great comfort. Im a helicopter parent and appreciate the daily pictures and report cards. I recommend this facility 100%!

Not everyone at Calistas is properly trained to properly care for handicapped pets. We left our 16 year old Shitzu who was deaf and blind for over a week while we were on vacation. I left alot of instructions and talked to people at Calistas several times during the week. He was so traumitized we had to put him to sleep this past Monday, because of their negligence.
