I have mixed feelings about this place. I have boarded my dogs here the different years while on vacation. First two years my dog came back very muddy and stunk. They weren't given their promised bath and had to bath them before bringing them home. This last year they lost my dog's blanket which I was confused by considering my dog should have been with his blanket. They seem unorganized. I've checked around on prices and next year I think that I'm going to try a different place instead. Seems like there are a few other places that are nicer, gives more play time, more accommodations for the dogs and the same price.

I would strongly advise against bringing your pets to Bear Brook Kennel, particularly for dog boarding services, based on my personal experience. During an overnight stay, I returned to find my dog’s kennel in an unsanitary condition. There was feces present that had not been properly cleaned; instead, it appeared to have been covered with a blanket, leaving a noticeable odor. I also observed widespread cleanliness concerns throughout the facility, including the presence of rodent droppings—even in areas such as water bowls—which poses potential health risks to animals. Additionally, there appears to be a lack of consistency in care. Services such as scheduled playtime are not always carried out as expected, despite being part of what customers are paying for. Basic care practices, such as regularly checking water levels and conducting routine walkthroughs, also seem to be neglected at times. From a workplace standpoint, the environment appeared unprofessional. There were instances of poor communication, including difficulty reaching management during urgent situations, which resulted in staff having to handle responsibilities beyond their role. I am so relieved, my 18 1/2 year old kitty had such a good experience here. I had never boarded my cat before, but it was unavoidable. I picked this kennel because they seemed nice, had good reviews, had an opening, and it's right around the corner from my vet. They allow you to pick an option for special attention, which I have not seen at other kennels or petsitter. When I called to check in on my cat, the woman answering the phone knew exactly who I was asking about, which was so reassuring. They know the animals well enough, that they knew mine right off the bat and were able to provide an update. The cherry on top, was when I got my cat back and we sat in the car for a minute, and she started purring. Usually she's distant and panicky after I come back from a trip, because she just doesn't get enough hours with people when I use a pet sitter. I think I'll probably be using a kennel, probably this kennel, for the foreseeable future. Actually, the cherry might have been when they were sad to see my cat leave. What a great place. I was surprised at the reasonable price and made sure to tip for such great service, although it was not solicited or expected.

Giovanna and Sarah are excellent trainers and my 9mo golden Lenny loves going to structured daycare with them every Monday! Giovanna has treated Lenny like her own since we started working with her 6+ months ago. He absolutely loves her and she has taught both of us so much. She has SO much knowledge. Highly recommend going to BBK for training classes!

Bear Brook Kennel is wonderful! Our third dog to board here regularly over 20 years. We know that the staff will always go above and beyond to make sure our current pup is happy, healthy, and well cared for. Where else would a dog wag her tail vigorously as she walks in, offer a quick hug good-bye and off she goes to see what's going on at her home away from home.?
