Independent pet shops often carry raw and freeze-dried food and local brands, and many run a grooming salon or a self-service wash in the back; dog bakeries sell fresh treats and birthday cakes; aquarium and exotic pet stores serve fish, birds and reptiles; and feed stores sell bulk food, bedding and supplies for farm animals and horses.

Fayetteville is in North Carolina, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. Getting around Fayetteville is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across North Carolina's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

They have a lot fish that other stores do not have because they do not order from the same big chain stock stores. Unique small animals, snakes and lizards are well kept. Yes the store stinks. It is an old building with old plumbing and ventilation. They make up for the overwhelming smell with great customer service. I’d say it’s over all good because the employees care about the closeness of the animals and customers. I’ve never had poor customer service there.

Worst store I have ever seen. Snakes are covered in mites. Tarantulas barely have any soil, no water. Soooo many mice in one tank. Was visiting the area and went in, have never felt so sad for animals. As a reptile owner this is disgraceful, they need shut down.

One of two dead sea horses…. The rest were coexisting in the same tank. Also posted are their eels each weighed down by a rock in a plastic “tank” 2x SMALLER than their length. Everything was overly priced (mostly $500+), therefore, too many unadopted animals in very small enclosures. There was literally a small glass aquarium holding maybe 5 large nursing rats, each with 8-10 nursing babies under each mother, just casually in the center of a walking path. Oh and the placement of 4 very large boas all in one enclosure, having directly beside them a separate tank full of mice backed into a corner, terrified, literally living right beside looking in the eye the predator they probably get fed to.

I understand that pet store setups are often temporary, but “temporary” is not an excuse for neglecting basic animal welfare standards. The condition these animals are being kept in is beyond unacceptable. multiple species are being cohabbed, including species that do not even live on the same continent. (the sulcata & mountain horned dragons together? plz be so fr.) animals with different temperature and humidity requirements are being forced into the same enclosures or animals that are solitary are crammed into an undersized enclosure. all of the enclosures lacked the bare minimum. the animals had no proper hides, no foliage or clutter, and visibly dirty or inadequate water sources. keeping these animals in barren tanks with nowhere to hide causes constant stress. snakes in critter keepers with no heat source, a very sad boa with no foliage or climbing opportunities, multiple ball pythons crammed into one enclosure. the crested geckos appeared severely underweight with no food in sight and were being kept on inappropriate substrate. I also saw a bearded dragon being housed on aspen bedding, which is obviously unsuitable. a pixie frog in a tank that is mostly water despite them

They were able to take in my pythons I needed to re-home, and had a sweet leopard gecko for my daughter. Always a pleasure coming here, and I'll make the long drive for it. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable, happy to help you take care of your critters. Massive selection of fish she reptiles. I do miss their old location, but the vibe hasn't changed.
