This group covers shelters, breeders and the other places pet owners use: animal shelters and rescues place dogs and cats for adoption and often run low-cost vaccine and spay clinics; breeders raise puppies and kittens of particular breeds; pet cremation services and cemeteries help when a pet dies; pet photographers take portraits, often right after a fresh groom; and pet-friendly hotels and places welcome dogs. Boston is in Massachusetts, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Boston is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Massachusetts's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

I had a really nice experience a few years back but I feel the need to share our most recent experience with this “rescue” team. They have absolutely no sense of urgency to rescue or help animals in need. Yesterday rained so I get it, but today had a “chance” of rain so they could not send anyone. Our kitty was in a tree for 3 nights and they suggested that she be in the tree for one more night because of the chance of rain. People are better off calling tree removal services or having the help of neighbors. Our cat is rescued and saved no thanks to Boston “rescue league”

Highly recommend Animal Rescue League of Boston to anyone looking to expand their family with a new pet!! This is Luna (formerly Labubu), she’s our perfect wild child which we were properly warned about, but we couldn’t be happier and she fits right into our crazy little family. The rescue was absolutely amazing with relaying all information regarding her life before us, making sure she was FULLY up to date with the vet, and best of all sent us home with EVERYTHING we needed for her, bed, toys, treats, leash, collar etc. even enough food to last the first couple days. 10/10 best rescue experience. You can tell they really care about the animals in their care and do everything they can to make sure they go to loving homes. They did everything in their power to make sure we were prepared for what we were going into with a 4 month nippy German Shepard puppy and we are genuinely so in love, I think the big sister Midnight isn’t minding it too much either. ;) Thank you so much Animal Rescue League!! Don’t worry we will come stop by and say hello very soon!!! ❤️

My sister adopted James and when we got him he was really scared and nervous. A bit feisty but within two days he became the most sweetest cat. He is super lovable, gets along with my other cat. He brings a lot of laughs and cuddles when needed. We are super grateful for James

I had a terrible time at the shelter. As someone who has visited the shelter from time to time and is actively looking to adopt a cat, my 2 most recent visits were terrible! I would like to preface that I respect all the volunteers there. They clearly know their stuff and only want the best for the animals there (and volunteering in their free time, no less). But, after dealing with one of the volunteers, Betsy, I am feeling ever more hesitant to adopt here. Every cat I expressed interest in was “not the right fit for me" or "I need more experience before adopting this one." And while maybe one or two comments held merit, the majority of them were clear shut-downs. It was also the manner in which she spoke to me and my family. She spoke down to us, as if my family and I knew nothing of cats. It was almost as if she didn’t want us to adopt any! Even cats that were playful, had no health issues, and were overall a good fit, she would find something like, “Oh, that one will not let you touch them.” Meanwhile, here’s my family rubbing the cat with no aggression. Also, all cats have personalities and will get overwhelmed with pets at some points — it’s almost as if all pets are like
