I had spent thousands for their services from 2004-2018. After my originally-trained through them dog (George) passed away I asked Harlan if I could still board my remaining dogs there. He asked what kind of dogs they were, when I mentioned one as a "pitty" he called me a liar and stated I had never been there before as other dog owners would freak out seeing a pitty in the yard. He hung up on me. I had forgotten that her paperwork called her a "boxer mix" at the time but still, Harlan was always gruff and unpleasant during drop off and pick up but he has gotten way worse over the years. Why would I lie about my dogs being there before, he's got tin foil tendencies at this point. To be treated like that after giving THOUSANDS of dollars to their business is beyond disappointing. I do NOT recommend.

I love this place! Julie is awesome. We had our Rottweiler puppy do the basic “manners” board and train in 2024 because at 5 months and 50lbs she was a bit of a bull in a china shop and almost knocked my mom down a few times. Harlan took his time to build my pup’s confidence and even keep her an extra week no charge to make sure they didn’t rush the process. Every time we went to train with her she was so sweet and happy, I could tell they treated her well. Fast forward a year later and she’s still doing great! We use their Daycare and Boarding often. My Gypsy girl gets So excited to go see her friends at ASDO!!

Could not have asked for a kinder and more qualified trainer than Julie. She is very competent and knows how to bond with dogs,at least with mine! Her style and methods are easy to learn. Making practice and success achievable. I would highly recommend Julie to anyone needing obedience training for their dog.

They went above and beyond for our dog! He was awful around other dogs, not aggressive just crazy/uncontrollable hyper, our trainer Julie kept working with us until he showed improvements. I am really impressed with the level of customer service we were shown. They also do boarding. We have not boarded our dogs with them yet but I would feel comfortable leaving our fur babies with them if we ever went out of town they are very professional and really know what they are doing.

We had a wonderful experience with Harlan and his wife and the other trainers at American School of Dog Obedience! I have a 1.5 year old border collie mix we adopted from a rescue who needed the basic "manners" course. She is really smart - and we were debating "training" her ourselves (ha!), but I am so happy I found them, since I am in LA and they usually work by word of mouth. They even give a discount to people coming from LA to account for gas, which I found to be really gracious. Harlan and the method he uses to train is NOT cruel (no "jerk method!" like the 1-star review below states!) Their method is too complex to get into on a Google review, but I want to say that Suzy (my dog) is very sensitive, and she did not come home with any fear - she was just trained! Harlan also goes to great length to teach us, the owners, how to reinforce the training so she does not become "un-trained". Also, their training is lifetime guaranteed! I could tell she had a positive experience there and just the fact that they trained her to walk on a leash PERFECTLY (she was like a demon-dog pulling with all her might before) is testament enough! I will be bringing Suzy back to them if we ever n
