Schaumburg is in Illinois, in the Midwest, where summers are warm, winters are cold and snowy, and most errands are done by car; businesses keep steady year-round hours with the usual holiday changes. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Schaumburg follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. Our experience with AHF has been amazing. We have been working with Paige as our foster coordinator. She is so communicative and is always volunteering her free time to help us with our foster to adopt pup, Mater. AHF supplied us with everything Mater needed to get comfortable as we took him in as a foster. We are foster fails and cannot wait to be his forever home.

I had such a wonderful experience adopting my dog from AHF. The entire process was smooth, and you can truly tell how much they care about the animals and finding the right home for the right dog. We adopted Joon who was a LOCAL stray in a LOCAL shelter. She was in a shelter with only 30 days to find a home before they were going to euthanize her. With only a few days left of the 30 days, almost home went and picked up her and brother. Both dogs were placed in a foster home before later getting adopted. I worked with Paige during the process and she was incredibly helpful, caring, and knowledgeable. We were new dog owners and Paige was amazing with training guidance and took the time to answer all of my questions. She even took time out of her day to meet us somewhere to train with us. I felt supported every step of the way, even after bringing my dog home. I’m so grateful for everything they do and would absolutely recommend this rescue to anyone looking to adopt.

We adopted Katalina 2 years ago today. She came from a 51 dog hoarding situation and was shy and skiddish. Guess what? She is still shy and skiddish and loved and spoiled and walked and treated like a princess. Her best friend is our rescued Beagle Spirit and she is the sweetest addition to our family. I loved working with Almost Home. The foster mom was so kind and went above and beyond to support our adoption. Please support this agency and the volunteers that make it happen.

We just adopted the love of our life last week! Lincoln is a 5 year old poodle and so so so well matched with our family and lifestyle. He bonded very quickly with us and we can’t imagine life without him ever again. Hes sweet, mild mannered, well behaved, and so patient with our toddler. The process was smooth and easy with Stephanie. He was in a fantastic foster home, where he was very well taken care of and loved. We are so thankful we could give a loving home to a great dog!! Thank you almost home foundation.

We adopted our cat Pearl from Almost Home Foundation in March 2025. After we submitted the application, AHF sent emails keeping us updated with the status of the application and what the next steps would be. When it came time to meet Pearl, AHF Sheila met with us at the foster's home. Pearl was extremely shy and anxious so we weren't able to really interact with her. We still wanted to bring her home and give her a chance to have a forever home. Sheila recommended foster to adopt to ensure that Pearl would feel comfortable with us and that she was a good fit for our family as well. We knew that we would do anything to help her feel at ease with us as long as it took. But it was nice to know that if she really did not feel at home, she would go back to the fosters (in a safe environment). During the six-week foster to adopt time, Sheila maintained contact with us checking in with Pearl and to see if we needed anything. At Pearl's official adoption, Sheila had all the adoption documents ready, a goodie bag for Pearl, and a knitted blanket (donated by a volunteer). We could tell that Sheila really cared about Pearl and her wellbeing. She even asked us to send her updates a
