Albany is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Albany is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across New York's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

So grateful for the entire staff at ACVH. A few years ago my senior dog that already has mobility issues stopped being able to move at all, my vet at the time couldn't see him and said they might not be able to help. We called ACVH and they got him in asap. They changed up his meds and put him on a monthly shot. We also started laser therapy same day and the combo of everything made a difference immediately. The regimen they put him on changed his quality of life and I couldn't be more grateful. Everyone there is so friendly and accommodating, especially since my dog is extremely fearful of both humans and other animals. Even though he was always shy during his visits, he would actually take treats from the techs which has never happened before! Love them and would recommend them to anyone!

Only one visit so far, very good experience. Everyone helpful. Our vet very knowledgeable and she listens to us. She discovered a problem with our dog we never considered.

I love this clinic! I had a 12 yr old border Collie with cancer, and they were amazingly supportive with helpful suggestions that relieved my concerns and help me make my old man's last weeks comfortable, with lots of good times yet to share. My current 2 dogs love this place - no problems getting them in the door. The staff remember my dogs, and treat them with so much loving affection. The desk crew are more than willing to work with you for whatever vet services you need. I'm very happy with the knowledge and professionalism of the doctors and technicians here, and I worked at the vet school clinic at Michigan State University, so I've seen a lot.

Second experience: We scheduled boarding for our dog over the phone and were told to send her vaccination records via email. After reviewing them, the clinic initially told us she only needed an updated DA2PP vaccine to board. We spent the entire day gathering records from multiple veterinarians, confirming vaccines, and scheduling the remaining vaccine. Only afterward were we told that, regardless of recent annual exams performed by licensed veterinarians, our dog also needed an exam by one of THEIR veterinarians in order to board. Because they want to maintain an active veterinarian-client-patient relationship. I have no issue with a business having its own policies. My issue is that this requirement is not disclosed on the boarding information form or website and was not communicated when the reservation was made. Had it been disclosed upfront, we would have made other arrangements instead of wasting time when it’s not needed. No business is perfect and I hope this feedback helps them clearly communicate this requirement to future pawrents so they can make an informed decision before booking. I was referred here by Nextdoor neighbors: the staff at Albany County Veterinary H
