Anchorage is in Alaska, where long summer days and dark cold winters set the rhythm of business; many seasonal operations run only from May to September, so call ahead outside the summer. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Anchorage follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. Volunteering here is so fun! Lyndsey (a lead volunteer) who trained me is super nice and so is everyone here! The cats are very well taken care of! I’m only 13 so my dad has to come with me but that’s ok, I would put a video of one of the cats but idk her situation I might big be allowed too.

Absolutely horrible experience. Holly who was their so-called lead was the coldest in heartless person I have ever met in an animal shelter. I'm a professional with cats and I was treated like I was an idiot.. it was like Holly expected me to just point at a cat and say I'll take that one verses where I wanted to do sittings which I made very clear to Shannon the person I was texting to at first then repeated it three times to Holly about me wanting to sit with the cats in which it seemed like it was going in one ear and out the other and she was just rushing me through. Just absolutely ridiculous not to mention their hours were from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and when I dropped what I was doing to go make that time frame and when I got there it was just absolutely a cold feeling with people who would just look up at me and then look back down not even acknowledging me and I had to stand there and try to flag someone down until I got a response. The reason why I didn't adopt the cat is because of Holly not letting me do the cat sitting, I was doing fine with the toughest cats without a scratch or a bite in fact I specialize in the toughest cases and those are the ones I want just for t

I had no idea how huge this place is, so many beautiful and different felines. The personality of the cats as well as how long some have been here is astounding. I give props to the many volunteers who make this possible for cat lovers, and adopting special cats. I brought my friend who was interested in a cat, she was able to sit and visit with the cats and relax. The result was Saturday she came back and adopted a beautiful cat for a loving companion, to help and heal each other. Thank you all so much.

The Alaska Humane Society Adopt a Cat Shelter is AMAZING! The volunteers there are very friendly, informative and love the cats. They do great work in finding homes for the cats, and until they do find a home the shelter keeps the cats happy and healthy. I am very happy with them and the cat I adopted. Thank you for all that you do. <3
