Montgomery is in Alabama, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. Getting around Montgomery is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Alabama's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Unnecessary rule making which majorly slows down how many clients you can cut in a day. No scientific understanding on how airborne pathogens actually work. The requirement for tools to always be put up needs to be adjusted. It should have never been instated in 2023. Putting my gear in drawers (that are not possible to be sealed) if anything traps it with airborne pathogens. Silly and a waste of time

The only redeeming grace of the board is the fact that half of the inspectors they have sent have been nice people. (aside from the fact that the last inspector they sent wasn't even from the board of cosmetology department because they're so chronically short staffed). A Few things: 1. Price increases on license renewals (Guys seriously we pay enough out of our own pockets as self employed individuals, the fact that there are no justifications for price increases for renewals and let alone a heads up to the owners is just absolutely unprofessional.) 2. Short staffed (Every other state does a year round inspection, which means once a year an inspector comes by to help maintain sanitation standards in a shop. Yet, we end up waiting 2 years at a time and that's even if they have someone in your county to actually do an inspection.) If the state is so fixated on making licenses such an enforced policy the least they could do is pay their staff enough to keep someone employed to do their job in an orderly time. 3. A complaint from last time i renewed my shop license (Not only do I end up having to call the board multiple times after renewing a license. Frequently does it get maile

Alabama State Board is full of a staff who do not care about the people and do not know how to do their jobs. I received my license in July with a photo of a completely different person. I sent back the license with the proper photo and they are telling me they never received it. They said, "You know you have to renew your license in November right?" As if that makes any difference to the fact that they have sent the wrong license and lost both passport photos which have now been completely wasted. I will have to retake my photos and renew my license, spending more money on a license I never even received. Everytime I call I'm transferred to a different person who can not help me. If I could give this establishment 0 stars I absolutely would.

The Alabama Board of Cosmetology is an absolute joke. They do NOT care about licensed stylist, they do not answer calls or return emails. They are allowing SO many unlicensed people to get by with doing what professionals that spent thousands on school and worked extremely hard to get where they are. I have spoken with Kendrah via email in which 80% of them she does not respond to because apparently she’s lazy or chooses not to deal with the issues at hand or just flat out does not want to do their job. You should all be ashamed for how you choose run the board. I’m so disappointed as a licensed professional in the state of Alabama

The people who work here are very unprofessional and don't know how to do their jobs. I have called and emailed just about everyone I can for months now and I haven't heard back about anything. When sending any information to them I suggest you make multiple copies, and if you do get lucky and get a hold of someone write everything down the told you and have them email you proof. Very unprofessional and I hope people can start doing their job's here soon so it makes life so much better for all of those going through what I am. I am not the only person this is happening to. Very disappointed with the Alabama Board of Cosmetology.
