Vets and pet-health businesses handle what a groomer cannot. General veterinarians and animal hospitals do checkups, vaccinations, dental cleanings, spaying and neutering and sick visits; emergency and 24-hour vets treat injuries and sudden illness at night and on weekends; mobile vets come to the house; rehab centers offer physical therapy, hydrotherapy and acupuncture; and pet pharmacies fill prescriptions and sell prescription diets. Groomers often spot skin problems, ear infections, lumps or overgrown nails first and will suggest a vet visit.
The business lists hours on 5 days of the week. The most common schedule is 8 am–5:30 pm. It is closed on Saturday, Sunday. Joplin is in Missouri, in the Midwest, where summers are warm, winters are cold and snowy, and most errands are done by car; businesses keep steady year-round hours with the usual holiday changes. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Joplin follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

I switched to this clinic a year and a half ago and it was the best decision I could have made. The entire staff consists of the sweetest, most supportive people I've ever interacted with. Dr. Michelle Cahill provided incredible comfort and compassion during a devastating time when I had to go through behavioral euthanasia with one of my dogs. They have continued to be absolutely wonderful with my other pets. I am so grateful for their kindness and excellent care.

Dr. Cahill and Dr. Helm are amazing vets and have a truly amazing staff. Paula is always so sweet on the phone and helpful with setting up last minute appointments! The techs (I wish I knew their names) are also amazing and very patient with our girls. Zoe and Nova have been coming here for their 8 years of their life and thanks to Academy - they are happy and healthy girls. I am so grateful to have such an amazing staff to look after my furbabies. Thank you !!!

I have been taking my cats to Dr. Michelle Cahill for veterinary services since Sept. 15, 2003. She is a cat whisperer! She is very knowledgeable and caring of pets and their humans. Dr. Pamela Helm has now joined her practice. Both doctors are trusted in the care of all my cats. I highly recommend Academy Animal Hospital.

Dr Pam has been taking care of my girls for about two years now. She is always very friendly and professional. When my old dog needed to be put down, she was very nice and took the extra steps to help me out. Academy even sent me a condolence card on the passing of my boy Buddy. That was pretty special in my opinion. Thanks for all you do.
